Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich visits Fresno
KUCINICH SPEAKS IN FRESNO
By Mike Rhodes
May 27, 2003
Democratic presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich came to Fresno today with a message of peace. Kucinich, who is speaking throughout Northern California this week, told the enthusiastic crowd of over 600 at the CSU-Fresno satellite student union what they wanted to hear. There is a Democratic candidate that supports health care for all, nuclear disarmament, and an economic policy that would put people before profits. He would take money from the defense budget and re-direct that money for education, health care, and other programs that will meet peoples needs.
“As a candidate for President, I offer a different vision for America, one which separates me from the other candidates. I am the only candidate for President who will take this country away from fear and war and tax giveaways, and use America's peace dividend for guaranteed health care for all, ending health care for profit. I am the only candidate who will stop the privatization of social security and bring the retirement age back to 65.
As President, I will cancel NAFTA and the WTO, restore our manufacturing jobs, save our family farms, create full employment programs, create new jobs by rebuilding our cities and schools. As President, I will repeal the Patriot Act to regain for all Americans the sacred right of privacy in our homes, our libraries, our schools.”
Dennis Kucinich was singing the song that progressives in this community wanted to hear. During the question and answer period he was asked by Jeff Eisinger, who is on the Fresno County Green Party County Council, if he would consider running as a Green. Jeff suggested that Kucinich’s populist politics were to the left of the party leadership and that he sounded more like a Green. Kucinich said that he thought of himself as “a Green Democrat.” He said that he believes his message will resonate with voters and that people who never bothered to vote before will be given a clear choice when he runs against Bush, or whoever the Republican’s run for president.
Chris Schneider, director of Central California Legal Services, asked what Kucinich would do about the chronic double digit unemployment in the Central Valley. “On the West Side of this Valley unemployment is 30-40%,” Chris told him. Kucinich said that he would create a work program similar to Roosevelt’s WPA during the 1930's. He said that he would not give tax breaks to the wealthy and would re-direct money from the military to projects that would help to rebuild this country and meet people’s needs.
Dennis Kucinich came to Fresno and renewed our hope. He spoke about the urgency for peace and re-focusing national priorities. It was a message that the audience was hungry to hear. Oddly enough, or perhaps not so strange, the corporate media did not spend a lot of time covering the Kucinich campaign stop in Fresno. In fact, The Fresno Bee (this areas only daily newspaper) did not even mention the event. This makes the coverage given by alternative media (like this story on Indymedia) all the more important. Somehow, the message of peace, economic and social justice must get out. To find out more about Dennis Kucinich’s campaign, go to: http://www.kucinich.net/

Hello all, this is Mr.Evans and I live in Clovis CA.
I was one of the 700 people who were there at Tuesday night's visit by Presidential Candidate Dennis J. Kucinich at the Student Satelite Union Hall on the grounds of Fresno State University in Fresno CA.
He did quite good, but when it came to answering questions he gave the appearance of being evasive on several of our questions with mine being one of them.
I was up in front sitting in my powerchair because I'm Dis-abled and use a power wheelchair for mobility ,and I was right up in front of the auditorium just feet from him on stage.
I asked him the following question. "When you're elected President, will you hold Bush and all of his friends accountable for their Illegal Genocide on the innocent people & military of Iraq,as well as for War Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity" ?
His responce was to tell me / everyone in the auditoriom that he'd bring the U.S. into the World Courts and go from there.
I wasn't impressed with that aspect of his time there last Tuesday night, but I did have the opportunity to meet him three,(3) times that night and shake his hand all three,(3) times which isn't bad for anyone who tries to meet someone who's running for the office of President of The United States of America !!!
If you look closely at the first picture above you'll see a hand with a red short sleeved shirt at the far right of the picture holding a silver cam-corder up into the air.
That's me videotaping his speech & Q&A time while was here.
I sincerely hope that he,(Dennis Kucinich) get's the nomination from the Democratic Party because he appears to be our best hope to Defeating Illegally "Selected" Bushit and his pathetic Fascist Nazi Wannabees and restoring honor, dignity, and our Constitution.
Sincerely, Mr.James Evans AKA Mr.Evans"D.F.F.CA."!!!

Dennis for President !
When are the supporters of this website finally going to learn to never vote for any Democrat-Republican at any level of government, as they all represent the same anti-workingclass capitalist class and thus voting for any of them is voting for your oppressor?
What is the problem? Do you have to be told OVER AND OVER AGAIN that this is a con game?
Dennis Kucinich, the anti-abortion Democrat who has voted for just about everything Bush has asked for in terms of war funds, money for Israel, anti-civil liberties bills, condemning the 9th Circuit decision tossing the illegal Pledge of Allegiance, is playing the usual Democratic Party's con game of giving lip service to workingclass causes to get elected and then, when elected, carrying out the same capitalist agenda as the Republicans. Thus, the Democrats exist to keep the Reds out of office and this is the ONLY reason Dennis Kucinich is running for office. Kucinich is suddenly "pro-choice" (but not pro-abortion) in time for this run for the presidency.
Kucinich knows he will not get the nomination; Lieberman has that all bought and paid for. The sole purpose of his campaign is to divert your attention from supporting any workingclass candidate who is not registered either Democrat or Republican.
WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR EVERYONE TO FIGURE THAT OUT? Most of the workingclass has figured out this con game and do not vote at all. Thus, it is the responsibility of those of us who do vote to vote only for workingclass candidates who are not Democrats or Republicans and if none are available, then just vote on the propositions.
WAKE UP! This con game is a despicable insult and a waste of precious time.

It's true that it will be largely up to us, the people who have seen or heard Kucinich, to spread his message. He has no corporate backers, and the very thing that makes him "unelectable" - his refusal to sell out the people to the corporations - also make him the only real choice in the race. All those Americans who don't bother to vote, because "all politicians are crooks" and "both parties are the same"? Kucinich is the 'real choice' that can bring those people to the polls - IF we can get the word out. And then, we will all win.
Bush only got 17 - 25% of the vote in 2000 - that's not a very big percentage to hinge a Presidency on. The key to reclaiming our democracy and reversing the march to doom is that enormous percentage who didn't vote. By going after all those who've given up on the idea of a truly honest, uncorrupted leader, we could elect a President Kucinich. Do we want our country back? We need to get the word out that there's an experienced, thoughtful and wise candidate who will not sell us out, and who LISTENS.
Kucinich is the one. They're hoping that if they keep the media fussing over Dean, talking up dubious polls that insist Kerry or Lieberman is leading, and repeating dismissively that Kucinich is "unelectable", the public will meekly buy it.
Don't. Don't believe it for a minute. Go to his site,
http://www.kucinich.us/, and check him out on the issues. Join the yahoo list of supporters at Kucinich4President [at] yahoogroups.com.
And realize that neither the corporate media nor the Democratic Party machinery can tell us who we want to be our President. If we-the-people demand Kucinich, we can make it happen.
