Join Global Exchange to celebrate Fair Trade in the Bay Area on World Fair Trade Day (May 17) and beyond! On World Fair Trade Day -May 17th, we are going to have lots of fun in San Francisco and the East Bay! Check out our cool volunteer opportunities, exciting actions, and in-store events!! E-mail fairtrade@globalexchange.org to let us know what events you’ll be at! We want to make sure we have enough Fair Trade chocolate to reward you all for supporting Fair Trade! FAIR TRADE ACTIONS! Creative leafleting action...involving M&M and Coffee sack costumes and great signs!. We are asking Safeway to sell Fair Trade chocolate/cocoa and to demand Fair Trade Certified coffee from Proctor & Gamble (Folgers/Millstone). P&G is the largest coffee company in the nation and they have refused to offer Fair Trade despite growing consumer demand. Safeway is one of the biggest purchasers of P&G coffees and their support for Fair Trade could convince P&G! Safeway offers some Fair Trade coffee but they do not offer any Fair Trade chocolate. Let’s get them to increase their Fair Trade sales and demand Fair Trade from the brands they carry! When: 11:30am-1:30pm Where: San Francisco: Church & Market (Castro District) Berkeley/Oakland: 6310 College Ave (Claremont & College) IN-STORE EVENTS! Come to our Global Exchange stores in Berkeley (College & Russell) and San Francisco (24th & Noe, the biggest Fair Trade store in the US!). The stores will have special Fair Trade demos and information, and will offer samples of Fair Trade coffee, chocolate and tea. We also encourage you to visit Casa Bonampak, a Fair Trade store located at 24 & Mission streets in the heart of San Francisco’s Mission district. There is always something festive happening at the 24/Mission plaza! Please RSVP via email to fairtrade@globalexchange.org or call 415-558-6938.
