Mayor Willie Brown Declares May 1st Levi Strauss Day
In a glaring omission of any mention of International Workers' Day, Mayor Willie Brown announced that May 1st is now Levi Strauss Day.
Levi Strauss today hosted a huge 150th company anniversary celebration at Levi's plaza in San Francisco. Among the speakers was San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown. In a glaring omission of any mention of International Workers' Day, Mayor Willie Brown announced that May 1st is now Levi Strauss Day. While the rest of San Francisco & the world celebrate May Day and Beltane, traditions long supporting workers' rights and earth, fertility rites, Willie Brown is busy trampling the remains of May Day & workers' spirit and replacing it with corporate worship & celebration.
Shame on Mayor Wille Brown.
Shame on Mayor Wille Brown.

>May 1st declared Levi Strauss day
and meanwhile, shrub hosted the Billy Graham-led "National Day of Prayer". (See http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A505-2003May1.html).
So, what's next? The NRA declaring May Day "International Rifle Day"?
