I have a question for "People Against Empire."
Are you really opposed to the American Empire, or are you just opposed to Bush and the Republicans.
I ask this because you have an endorsement of sorts of Howard Dean for President on your website.
Would this be the same Howard Dean who supported the Invasion of Afghanistan and the phony "War on Terrorism"?
Howard Dean is not opposed to the Empire. Howard Dean is like the rest of the American Political Establishment--Democrat or Republican, Liberal or Conservative. They all support and defend the global American Empire.
After all, the United States has been an Empire to one degree or another since its very inception, with its colonization of Native American lands, its conquest of the Hawaiian nation, and of course its stealing and current occupation of Aztlan (or what you call the "American Southwest") which includes much of California.
By any measure, America has been an Empire for its entire history. It was founded as an extension of the British Empire, and it became first a continental Empire and now a Global Empire on a planetary scale.
It seems obvious to me that if you want to be opposed to Empire, then you need to be opposed to America itself....
