The Department of Near Eastern Studies and the Office of the Chancellor host a lecture given by Azmi Bishara, a leading Palestinian human rights activist and one of only seven Arab members of the Israeli Knesset, the Parliament.
Bishara is a Christian Arab activist and Israeli citizen from Nazareth; the founder of the Arab Students Union in Israel and the National Democratic Assembly (Balad); former Head of the Philosophy Department, Bir Zeit University; and a senior researcher in the Van Leer Institute, Jerusalem.

Azmi Bishara is very interesting.
A couple of his main points are that US support for Israel is irrational from the standpoint of the US's own interests in the region, that the war on Iraq was for oil not for Israel but that pro-Israeli forces within the US government used 9-11 to open the door for this war...
