FCC PUBLIC HEARING IN SF

by n
PACK the FCC public hearing in SF this Saturday, April 26, at City Hall from 10-4pm.
Pack the FCC public hearing this Saturday, April 26 at SF City Hall from 10-4pm!!

Under the Chairmanship of Michael Powell (Colin Powell's son), the FCC is moving aggressively to eliminate the last few public interest protections that prevent the most extreme media monopolization by very large corporations. These proposed changes will dramatically impact the diversity of news, information, and culture available by decreasing the diversity of ownership of local media.

We want more diversity, not less!

SPEAK UP – ATTEND THE PUBLIC HEARING ON APRIL 26th!

Please help pack the Public Hearing to meet with Federal Communications Commissioner Adelstein on April 26, from 10 am to 4 pm in the Legislative Chamber of City Hall, San Francisco. The hearing is open to the public. Your input and opinion is crucial because the proposed rule changes will have the greatest impact on local news and information. The FCC is already hearing from lobbyists in DC looking out for corporate interests. This is your chance to tell the FCC you support strong media ownership rules that protect the public interest. Join in and raise your voice during the Public Comment Periods!

This issue -- and media information and working against the "patriot act" -- should be first order issues for the anti-war folk. I wish I knew how to make that so... I certainly speak within my circle of the importance of pushing back on corporate media and civil liberties destruction.

The entire FCC hearing was a monopoly. Speakers went over their time limit and monopolized the mic. This cut down on the number of speakers. It looked like a purge trial. Many rattled on about diversity, but never mentioned the intellectual variety. Now I know what political correctness is. One speaker feared we are headed for facsism. We are already there.

As a Canadian I am thrilled (& less concerned) that Americans are, finally, finding their voices through protests, etc... (I hope) It is appauling the control that the gov't & whole administration have over "mainstream" media and the truths that it is "hiding" from the public. Even our Canadian press is more "free" and Europeans & basically the whole "world" are much better INFORMED and are discussing the REAL truths, and yes ON main Media. What a real threat to "democracy" this is.

Bush's administration & Corporations must be exposed for their corruption, greed, and must be made accountable - they have so much BLOOD ON THEIR HANDS already !!! The whole world sees it and if US media doesn't get on the bandwagon the US as a nation will only be a "puppet" nation.

GO AMERICANS GO, WE ARE ALL (this includes the WORLD) BEHIND YOU -- esp. when the Bush Admin. doesn't even listen (or inform) to his own people, yet alone the world !! Thank you WE ARE ANXIOUS WAITING. God Bless the American PEOPLE !!!!

Thank God for the Internet !!!
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
