Surgi Center: Abortion Clinic now forced to allow both sides of the issue
This time last year, pro-lifers around the Atlanta area had the first "Friday before Easter Sunday" prayer vigil at a late term abortion clinic. This is Surgi Center -- which across the street from one of the TBS (Turner Broadcasting Systems) buildings at 1113 Spring Street in Atlanta.
At that time, a Deputy Sheriff (who moonlighted as a security guard at the abortion clinic) would arrest Pro-Lifers for being on a public sidewalk. There were "Death-scorts" -- Escorts for those going into the abortion clinic. Supposedly some of those were involved in witchcraft.
This year is the difference between day and night. The Deputy Sheriff can no longer moonlight at this abortion clinic. His arrests, which were thrown out of court, led to this decision.
Later in the year, Darlene, one of the Death-Scorts, had one very bad Saturday. She is supposed to be involved in witchcraft. One of the Pro-Lifers was watching her that day. She first ran into a telephone post (hitting her head), and then later ran into a sign -- trying to drag the women/girls into the abortion clinic.
The Pro-Lifer started up a conversation with a black man who was just quietly watching everything that day. The Pro-Lifer had no idea that this was an undercover policeman -- sent to find out what was happening at the clinic.
As the Pro-Lifer was talking to this person (the undercover policeman), Darlene came up, and the Pro-Lifer told her that she needed to "cool it" or she might hurt herself or one of the women.
After that Saturday, the Death-Scorts disappeared from Surgi Center, and were replaced with professional security guards.
Another change has come about this year that was not allowed last year -- the women/girls (and men/boys) had the chance to talk to Pro-Lifers. This truly gave these people a "real" choice -- to know that it was not necessary to have an abortion but that there was the alternative of "adoption".
There was another great change this year -- signs that filled the sidewalk on the other side of the street.
It is estimated that the crowd of Pro-Lifers who attended the Vigil -- from noon on Good Fridy to noon on Holy Saturday -- was about 200 people.
There was never 200 people at any time, but at 4AM there were about 8 people there. At other times, the crowd swelled to about 60 people.
The key focus of the vigil was a "protest" but prayers for an to abortion and prayers to the innocents being slaughtered as well as for those who doing the slaughtering or going in to have their baby slaughtered.
A rare thing happened this year that did not happen last year -- a woman changed her mind and left, after talking almost an hour with two Pro-Life women, giving her literature, and explaining to her what abortion is like.
I managed to be there for about 20 hours of the 24 hour vigil.
But the real meaning of choice is to allow women to have the "Right to Know" -- legislation in Georgia that is being held up by Democrats and powerful groups such as NOW and Planned Parenthood. Such groups claim to have the interest of the woman at heart, but is against giving the woman an "informed" right to know what is truly happening to her body, and the consequences, such as breast cancer, that abortion can lead to.
Though Martha Burk is great about protesting about Golf courses, if she was truly concerned about the health and well-being of women, she would at least be fighting the Georgia State Legistlature to let women have an "informed" opinion on abortion.
Very few women realize the damage that abortion often does to their bodies.
Does Martha Burk truly represent the needs of women? When it comes to abortion and the dangers they pose to women, the answer is "NO".
She is just a hypocrite.
If she truly cared about women, she would make abortion clinics a safe and clean place for women, and allow women the "Right to Know" what will happen to their bodies.
Finally, I attribute the successes in the past year at the Surgi Center abortion clinic to the power of prayer. And it appears, at least in the case of those who appear to have been involved in witchcraft, that Satan is losing as well at this abortion clinic.
