Credit card companies cancel on Muslim New Yorkers. > By Hilary Russ

Say that you are one of those fortunate people who manage to pay off most of their credit cards every month. Then imagine your surprise when one of your cards is cancelled for no apparent reason. You'd be outraged, especially if you found out this was only happening to you and your friends.
That's exactly what Farooq Firdous experienced. Last summer, Firdous, a Pakistani who got his green card in 1997 after 11 years of legal residence in the U.S., received a phone call from an American Express representative regarding a credit card he held. The rep requested that he send the company a mountain of paperwork: three years of tax returns, six months of bank statements and a job verification letter.
His wife, Yasmin Khan, who is Indian, received a separate phone call that same day for her own AmEx credit card. In each case, the rep told them they had 15 days to submit the paperwork or their cards would be cancelled. Firdous and Khan called back later--twice--to ask reps if they could send the request in writing. They refused.

How exactkly are the headline and initial comment related to anything said in the article?
Even sadder, someone who edits on SF IMC thought that this poorly and hatefully re-titled posting was fit to move up from the "anything goes" Newswire.

Er, you can't figure out how an article about American Express cancelling the credit cards of its Muslim customers is "related" to its control by a prominent zionist? Please consider psychotherapy. You desperately need it.
I am not sure what tthis is about. On the one hand it is about a corporation's racist policies. On the other hand it seems anti-semetic.
The headline is unrelated to anything in the article, which says nothing about the religious viewpoint of those discriminating, but which makes clear that Muslims were discriminated against. Sure there are Zionists that discriminate, but there are lots who don't. I'm absolutely certain there are plenty of Christians, Hindus, and World Church of the Creator-types who might do the same thing.
The headline is something that some racist nutcase decided to attach to something which includes no information that establishes any such facts.
But y'all get a lot of that sort of stuff at SF IMC, so I should merely be disgusted, and not surprised.

Readers need to be aware that SF-IMC has been targeted by the notorious zionazi ADL hate organization for spam "comments" that are designed to deflect attention away from any article that opposes zionism or zionists. The current crop of ad hominem comments trying to spin attention away from the above article is a case in point.
The ADL has been caught committing espionage for the Mossad in the San Francisco area, and has been found guilty of libel and ordered to pay $10 million to a Colorado family that it smeared with one of its "anti-semite" claims.

If American Express cancelled their accounts or required them to submit a financial history, then it's not against the law.
Credit cards issued from any given corporation, bank, or credit union have a little statement that says: "This card is property of XYZ Corporation and must be returned upon request".
And if that doesn't show the light on this, then consider those signs you see in store windows that say WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE - it's the same thing.
Don't make mountains out of speed bumps.....

Equal access to credit isn't a privilege. It's a right. And equal access to credit is supposedly "guaranteed" by law. So is equal access to housing, employment, etc.
On the other hand, permission to operate a credit card company that deploys theoretical monetary transactions as a substitute for legal tender cash payments is a privilege, and not a right.
Read your dollar bill if you still have one: "This note is legal tender for all debts, public and private". Does your credit card say that?

And you know this by being a member of ADL?
Besides this is an open forum isnt it?
I expect indymedia is "targeted" by ANSWER membrs to express views and post comments.
Besides that It seems to me that ADL or whoever they are would be unlikely to be particularly effective.
Anyway which people are you accusing of being part of ADL? (I dont even know if that is a good or a bad thing)

No, the stuff regarding the ADL was fairly well documented, even if it sounds so extreme that it seems like conspiracy theory.
Here are links with articles about the ADL spying. The ADL has a moderate or mainstream facade I guess.

Do you really want to know why they started doing that?
Every credit card company and bank that had anything to do with anyone of the 9/11 hijackers has gotten threatend with...and some actually filed... Civil Lawsuits for not catching on that the Hijackers were really Hijackers and allowing them access to money and credit.
AmEx is covering it's collective butt.
