"goddammit. look at those bastards. they should be glad they can demonstrate. i mean why the hell can't they be grateful to us? why the hell don't these people act like we expected them to in our brilliant plans? why don't they do what we tell them? they should be bowing down to us and kissing our hands. why the hell they want to go and get angry at us? they're not free to dislike us and disobey us, because we occupy and control them after all. they say they're liberated so they should be able to do whatever they want, but they aren't free to do anything the u.s. government doesn't want. yeah, they're quote "liberated", but not really. there's a new boss in town...

damn look at 'em. well, anyways, if they get out of hand, just give me a ring, and we'll send in the marines and the cobra's..."

"Iraq" is another land in the Middle East occupied by Arab Muslims. The indigenous inhabitants of the land live in America in Chicago and in many countries all over the world. They are called Assyrians, and they speak the Modern dialects of the language of Jesus,Aramaic. Now that "Iraq" is liberated It is the responsibility of the United Nations and the international community to right the wrong they have done to the dispossessed Assyrian people. They have the legal power and means to resolve the problem of the unsettled question of Assyria. It is the legitimate right of the Assyrian nation to remind the power brokers that its quest for restoration of its homeland needs to be addressed and resolved. Please read these article about the Assyrian nation and learn the truth about the Middle East.

Tens of thousands in Baghdad call for US withdrawal

Tens of thousands of demonstrators in Baghdad protested against the United States presence in Iraq on Friday, following Friday prayers.

Waving banners in English and Arabic reading "Leave our country, we want peace," protestors outside of the Abu Hanifa Al-Numan Mosque chanted "No to America, no to Saddam" and "This homeland is for the Shia and Sunni," in a sign of unity among the two groups.

The majority of Iraq’s 25-million strong population is 60 percent Shia, which had been ruled ruthlessly under Saddam Hussein’s mostly Sunni elitist regime. In recent days there has been mounting discontent from among the Shia to Washington’s presence in Iraq.

Protestors called for unity among Iraqis and urged all to put aside past conflicts and differences.

Al-Jazeera TV correspondent Youseff Al-Shouly reported it was the first non-state organized protest in the Iraqi capital in decades, describing it as a significant development.

In the first Friday prayers since US tanks rolled into the heart of Baghdad last week, Imam Ahmad Al-Kubaisi said in his sermon the United States invaded Iraq to defend Israel and denied that Iraqi possessed weapons of mass destruction. --Al Jazeera

Today's Assyrians are the direct descendants of the ancient Assyrian-Babylonian inhabitants of Mesopotamia, a land covering much of modern Iraq, Kuwait, southern Turkey, and Syria. They are predominantly Christian and are said to be the first people to accept the teaching of Jesus Christ in the First Century A.D. Assyrians are sometimes known in different Middle Eastern countries by their religious affiliation as Nestorians, Chaldeans, Jacobites, and Syrian Orthodox (Syriacs). The language of the Assyrian people is Aramaic or Neo-Aramaic (Syriac) to be more precise.
Between 1915 and 1918, over 500,000 Assyrians were systematically massacred in the hands of the Turkish, Arab, Kurdish, and Persian forces in Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey. In 1933, only a few months after Iraq's admission to the League of Nations, another massacre was committed by the Iraqi army against three thousand unarmed Assyrian villagers in North Iraq.
In 1988, the Assyrians were targeted by the Iraqi regime, starting with the infamous Anfal operations. Many villages, historic churches and monasteries were destroyed and thousands of Assyrians either lost their lives or were forced to emigrate to other countries. More recently, the oppression of the Assyrian Christians has taken on many new facets throughout Iraq.
As the only indigenous population of Iraq, Assyrians are committed to rebuilding a free and democratic Iraq with the support of the United States and her allies. Assyrians of Iraq demand equal rights under a new Iraqi constitution and protection under a secular government in Iraq in which the Christians are fairly represented.

The largest pro-American rally to happen in the United States to date was held in Chicago this past Sunday by thousands of Assyrian-Americans who support the U.S. operations in Iraq.
Assyrians are the indigenous people of Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Syria and Lebanon. They come from the vast area that was once known as Mesopotamia, with the heart or capital of their original homeland being located between the Euphrates and Tigris rivers, in what is now modern day Iraq.
"There are about 95,000 of us living in the Chicagoland area," said Peter Dagher, an Assyrian-American who ran for Blago's vacated congressional seat as a Democratic candidate. "My brother is a U.S. Air Force pilot," he continued. "It's great for us to see how he went from being a typical kid with a messy room to a Lieutenant Colonel. We're all very proud of him and the others who are over there doing this terrible work and risking their lives."
Eddie Nissan, President of the Assyrian Social Club on North Pulaski Avenue, said many of his in-laws were able to get out of Iraq just before the bombing started, gaining safety across the border in Jordan. Born in Iraq with an advanced degree in engineering, Eddie Stated, "I don't understand the protestors. They have no idea what it's like in those countries, particularly in Iraq under the Hussein regime. People disappear for no reason. They are tortured and murdered every day. I can't see why these kids protest when our American troops are doing good by getting rid of Saddam and his Baath Party."
Talking to the Assyrians at this rally and at the Assyrian Social Club was an educational experience for this reporter.
They are serious about their lineage, origins and religion. All Assyrians are Christians and they come from many different lands. Regardless of where they were born, they consider themselves Christians first, Assyrians second, with individual nationalism (place of birth) taking a minor position in their lives. Iraq is the home of the Garden of Eden, which is the birthplace of Adam and Eve and beginning of mankind. The Assyrians are the original inhabitants of these lands with a calendar that dates back over six millenniums. This is their New Year and they are celebrating number 6,753. Their calendar is older than the Jewish and Chinese calendars.
Ancient Mesopotamia was conquered by Muslim forces and Islam was installed as the official religion in the region. The Assyrians refused to renounce Christianity and have suffered hundreds of years of torture, genocide and exile as a result.
Iraqi Foreign Minister, Tariq Aziz, is an Assyrian and Christian. Inquiring about him brought a mixed response from the people at this rally.
Some acted as though he was a traitor to his family, while some expressed regrets about his actions, dismissing them with an understanding tone.
"Tariq Aziz was a young man when the Baath Party took over his village in Iraq," said one Assyrian man. "He had to assimilate or perish. It's that simple. Many were trained in the same way the Nazis trained the Hitler Youth."
"Getting rid of Saddam Hussein is a thirty year dream come true for Assyrians," said Marine Shapira.
Eddie Nissan said it all.... "People in this country should be happy to live here and enjoy these freedoms. Many have no idea what wonderful rights they possess."

Peter Dagher and Marina Shapira advised they started putting this rally together three days ago, just by making some phone calls and spreading the word. Imagine what a crowd there would've been if they had just a little more time to organize.
While the U.S. news media focuses on the negative, hoping to have poor results that will harm President Bush politically, Assyrian-Americans are proud of the efforts made by Bush and his administration.
"God Bless President Bush, the brave troops and the American People!" shouted one man in the crowd. This was met with loud chants of..."USA! USA! USA!

by free the Kurds and Iraqis too!!!
I wonder if Assyrians in Iraq support the U$ invasion. They've probably been bombed and murdered along with all the other innocent Iraqis!
