A "peace march"

How cute.

Go home kiddies. War's over.

We won.

Dear Writers and Editor,

Regarding your story on the Chevron protest yesterday, I was concerned to note that of all the quotes in the story, only two were from the protesters, and one of those was simply a well-known chant. It's disturbing to see that once again, the Chronicle shows no interest in investigating any actual content of a protest, as shown in this story which had all of two lines of background on the situation. Even the concrete-filled Volvo got more coverage than the issue being protested.

In contrast, at least seven quotes were taken from people criticizing the protest, including this one by Saddie Piggott: "They have the right to protest if they're peaceful."

I guess Saddie would feel the same way if Soylent Green were being produced in her town, but from the Chronicle's reporting, she'd have no idea it was even happening.

Jeff volunteers to bring several bangladeshi families into his house when the sea level rises due to Chevwrong's addition of CO2 into the atmosphere.

This war is not a football game, Jeff. There isn't a referee to blow a whistle and say it's over, and I bet the soldiers who are stationed in occupied Iraq don't feel like it's over. Now comes the phase where the Iraqis finish celebrating who's gone and notice who's still there (see Baghdad and Nasiriyah protests). The troops (not to mention the Iraqis) will be in tremendous danger for months if not years. It's not over, and we haven't won.

Regardless, this wasn't a "peace march". It was a direct action against a war profiteer, whose profits will start to flow after the military action has settled. They are negotiating for these profitable drilling contracts right now. Therefore now is an appropriate time to call attention to what they're doing.

Just in case anyone is listening.

While we are responsible to some degree for CO2 emissions, we are a *small* factor... Geologic processes contribute far more CO2 than we ever could.

we should all remember that nurds like 'average' jeff are so abused by their rulers in their own lives that they are bursting at the seams with hostility and are always anxious to see others beaten or abused...for him to say that "we" "won" is for him to display his ignorance of the fact that he is in effect a farm animal for a bunch of ruthless rich people who couldn't care less what happens to him or any of his kind.
