Shaming Rep. Pelosi into Action
Recap of Monday, April 7, 2003 rally co-sponsored by Agape affinity group and A Jewish Voice for Peace
The Agape affinity group and A Jewish Voice for Peace organized a rally of more than a hundred activists at the Federal Building in San Francisco on Monday, April 7, 2003, calling for Representative Nancy Pelosi to represent her constituents' opposition to the war in Iraq. From 12 noon to 1:00 p.m. several speakers asked Congresswoman Pelosi to support peace in the Middle East in the following ways:
1. Support H.R. 141, which affirms that the U.S. has the right to defend itself, but disavows the Bush Administration's doctrine of "preemption." Preemptive war poses a grave threat to international law and our national security.
2. Support those who work for peace between Israelis and Palestinians by supporting H.C.R. 111, which calls for a U.S. investigation into the death of Rachel Corrie. Rachel, a young American peace activist, was recently killed by an Israel Defense Forces bulldozer while attempting to nonviolently protect a Palestinian home from demolition.
3. Conduct congressional hearings and a San Francisco town hall meeting to explore key issues related to the war on Iraq, including: the use of depleted uranium, the costs of the war; ways for the U.S. to mend relations with its allies and engage multilaterally, and the erosion of civil liberties under the guise of national security.
The program included Phil Klasky and Karen Topakian of the Agape affinity group, members of A Jewish Voice for Peace and singers and musicians who led the crowd in songs and chants. At the end of the rally, Catherine Dodd, Chief of Staff for Congresswoman Pelosi, read the Congresswoman's anti-war statements made since September 2002.
After the conclusion of the rally, a six-member delegation met with Ms. Dodd and Dan Bernal, Assistant Chief of Staff, to address the concerns listed above and to take a more vocal stand against the war. Congresswoman Pelosi's staff agreed to pass along the request for a town meeting and to follow-up on the Representative's position on the two House bills listed above.

Actually 2/3rd's of the people in her district agree with liberating Iraq. Only 1/3 of you support the tyrant Saddam. What you are doing is trying to "shame" her into giving into a minority.
San Francisco is 2/3 tenants and most of those tenants are in Nancy Pelosi's Congressional district. The tenant community, which is overwhelmingingly workingclass, supports peace, not colonization of Iraq, which the US is doing. The US has eliminated rule by CIA dictator, Saddam Hussein, and replaced it with direct colonial rule, just like the old British empire. This is as much an act of desperation as that of British imperialism, and the US economy is sinking faster than ever. Nancy Pelosi does not represent the workingclass and neither does her stinking rotten Democratic Party, a twin of the Republican Party; they represent the same, bankrupt, desperate capitalist class. Just as Hitler did not liberate Europe, so too the American Hitler, George War Bush, is not liberating anything; he is colonizing Iraq and any other place the US chooses to invade and massacre the people, for the profits of the capitalist class, in particular as to Iraq, for the oil profits.
Picket Pelosi when she receives a "peace award" on April 12, 2003 at 5 p.m. at the Fairmont Hotel on Nob Hill, California and Mason, and let's run peace candidates for office against her in 2004. We now have the momentum; let's use it.

You say that Hitler did not liberate Europe.
No shit. But America liberated and occupied Germany. And Japan. Then America (mostly) left. Look where it got Germany and Japan.

How about Afghanistan? We are wrecking soverign states and we don't have enough horses and men to put them back together again. I was happy to see Pelosi take over leadership in the House but we need to actually stand up to manipulations of the American publc instead of cowering. Don't forget to vote, assholes!
Dear MNSBC, our church group and political group has organised a boycott of every single advertiser you have in the San Francisco Bay Area. We are individually and in groups calling each and every single one of your advertisers urging them to withdraw their advertisement budgets from your channel because of your continued exploitation of American men and women in the Armed Forces.
Your daily pornographic exploitation and cheerleading of this war has lead to so much grief and sorrow amongst families here in the bay area who have already sacrificed children to this cause, to your profit has lead us to no other alternative.
Your representatives in San Francisco in no uncertain terms told us to "tell it to your representative" that we have no other choice, other that to resort to the systematic boycott of each and every single one of your sponsors in order to drive you out of our television market.
On behalf of the mothers, fathers, brothers and sisters of the men and women who are serving us proud as you sit idly by counting your pennies, may I utter a sound of disgust. For shame! Have you no human conscience?
Sincerely
