JAILBREAK benefit may be cancelled due to OPD pressure
by m. kat Wednesday April 16, 2003 at 07:00 PM

The Jailbreak benefit scheduled for this Friday may be cancelled due to pressure from the Oakland police. Organizers are looking for a back-up location. Stay tuned for more details.

The Jailbreak party, scheduled to take place this Friday, may be cancelled (or postponed) due to pressure from the Oakland Police Department. Organizers are currently looking for another location at which to hold the event. More information available soon.

ok, so it may be cancelled, but there's a flyer with the original date, time and location on it. could someone please clarify what is going on? i mean, this could easily be some right-wing toady (governmental, corporate or armchair) trying to mess with us by saying "oh, the event is cancelled" -- all of which could be resolved by someone involved with the event posting an update. thanks.

hey it is all still being worked out. We expect people to show up at the space cause it is on the flyer with no phone number. We are exploring all our options and this is a political attack on our right to assembly and the police have been very rude. Stay tuned... check this out tomorrow afternoon.

I think that this benefit should still happen. These groups need their money, and we need to show our resistance to those pigs who don't even want us to have a party!

I hope you guys find a space in Oakland.

Good news: Jailbreak is ON tonight!!!!

It will NOT be at the Humanist Hall (390 - 27th St., Oakland) however. We have a new location. Go to the Humanist Hall (390 - 27th STreet, between Telegraph & Broadway) and you will be directed to the new location.

This is a clear case of political repression by the Oakland Police Dept. More detailed info. on that to follow, but right now we need to spread the word about the party.
We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
