Press conference is at 2:30 in front of City hall - Frank Ogawa plaza.
I went down around noon. The first thing I saw in front of the federal building was a fight that broke out when a 'reporter' from Channel 5 tried to walk with with a wooden dowel bullet casing that a Ph.D. student from UC Berkeley had taken as evidence. A cell phone flew in the air. The reporter thought a few seconds, and then chased the student in a big loop through the plaza in front of the federal building, and the student said that the reporter couldn't just take stuff away from him. A couple minutes later, the student had found the reporter some bullet casings and gave them to him and they weren't fighting any more.
There were a lot of people with bullet casings, and various injuries. Several had broken hands and so forth from the past few weeks, and a few people were showing the bullet wounds from today. Someone else said that the wounds produce grapefruit sized swellings, and this is definitely true. Most of the people who had been shot were at the hospital and were not among this crowd yet. One person supposedly was shot in the side of the head and had been bleeding a lot, and another person who wasn't there had had something explode against her nose and was at the hospital.
Unnerving some of the crowd, or rooting out the liberals, incendiary Aaron arons of Berkeley went around with support Asam Akbar signs and saying that people against fragging aren't worth speaking to. Photographers went around capturing most of the crowd.
