This is insane I was right by this and luckily I wasnt too close but no one was doing anything to interpret violence until the PD started shooting. Im not sure if the city is behind them with support but they shouldnt be. I just wanted to give you my input and I hope that there is some action taken against the Oakland PD.

The mainstream media talked only about rubber bullets.

This is just one more incident on a speedily growing list of at least tens, maybe approaching hundreds, of similar incidents (Seattle '99, Cincinnatti for the OAS protest, where they busted out with a ton of rubber bullets, etc) occurring over the past ten years. I have protested in Detroit myself, only to meet with the same tactics of the police using direct confrontation to try and provoke violence upon a PEACEFUL protest, although we did not get shot at like this. Some people got roughed up, though. The police ALL had looks on their faces (at least the ones whose faces we could SEE, who weren't hiding behind riot gear) like they would like nothing more than to beat the living shit out of all of us, and some did so with fervor, animosity, and almost joy, it seemed.
These tactics are getting worse, not better. I have simply seen enough of peaceful folks getting worked over by our pseudo-military police forces. I used to just think of police states in third world nations; the notion seemed impossible here. But over the course of the past ten years, it has started to unfold. The prison population has doubled, and the president's own press secretary, good ol' Ari, came out and said after 9/11 that "Americans had beeter watch what they say."
Well, FUCK HIM, and FUCK violent, macho cops, who likely got physically abused as innocent children when they were growing up, and are now looking to return the favor on innocent citizens trying to exercise their rights under the Constitution. And FUCK all the major city police chiefs, who give the OK for their drone brutes to fire upon innocent people, and who suck up to their corporate mayors. This is going to get worse before it gets better, but my resovle will not waver. I hope all of yours will not, either.

The NAZI POLICE STATE has started...Across the country. ANYONE who demonstrates against the war or for anything the Bush Administration does, is going to have retributions against them. Next election? Vote this Supreme Court appointed prez out... Remember this...OUR First Amendment right is OUR right of law. The police have no right attacking anyone without being attacked. From Boston to Oakland. The police used force. Why? Protect and Serve WHO?...Bush? Time to vote BOZO out! Peace...

Cops fired on a 100% peaceful crowd. There were lots of witnesses (reporters with vidoecameras, longshoreman, protesters) and none of them saw the protesters do anything violent. I was there, the crowd was dispersing and not attacking the police when the cops started firing. The truth will come out and the Oakland police will ONCE AGAIN be responsiple for millions of dollars in lawsuits.

Pro-American you're a fuckin idiot and a nazi if you support state violence against peaceful dissent. So suck my dick.
