THE US State Department has withdrawn all CD-ROM copies of its annual human rights report due to a one-word error that overstated the extent of Israel's rights abuses, officials have said.
The embarrassing mistake – which is sure to raise eyebrows in the Arab world – was not caught until the department noticed that some media accounts of the report had quoted from a draft version of the Israel section, they said.
The draft had been erroneously placed on the CD-ROM, the officials said on condition of anonymity.
"It was an honest mistake," said one. "There was nothing intentional or devious about it."
The final and correct version of the section on Israel has been posted on the department's website (http://www.state.gov).
On the CD-ROM version, the report says: "Israel's overall human rights record in the occupied territories remained poor, and worsened in several areas as it continued to commit numerous, serious human rights abuses."
The revised, final version of the Israel section omits the word "numerous" from the sentence.

And we're about to occupy a hostile Arab country.
The initial post is not "proof" of anything. Do you know what the word "proof" means? You pointed out that an error was made in a report about one thing, and somehow built an imaginary bridge to a separate issue. There was no "proof" of anything at all. Well done.
As for the second post, have you noticed that the US has interferred with lots of stuff all around the world? And that the Western world has carved up much of the middle east? And why is Britain and Australia in on this, does Israel control them, too? And how does Israel control them, exactly? Because a war on saddam may help israel, you just ASSUME that israel is behind it, with no proof of anything at all? That's brilliant! How come dozens of countries are now supporting this, is Israel controlling all of them, too?
In many ways, this war hurts Israel. For starters, this war may create many more stupid-ass terrorists, who may deem it even more "necessary" than before to strap bombs to themselves and run at Jewish Israelis. Another is that this puts Israel at a bigger risk for a chem/bio attack than before. Saddam hasn't directly attacked israel for 10 years now (indirectly, he funds palestinian suicide bombers). This war could cause saddam to launch some insane bio rocket crap at israel, does that help them?
Here's a new concept, guys. It's called GAINING FACTS that actually prove something, and not just making up conspiracy theories that COULD be true but could also just be made up.
If ever a country deserved the title shitty it is this little stinker. A country which steals from you, attacks you repeatedly and what do you do, give it money and arms. Something is rotten in the state of Denmark.
