we really need someone to bottom line media outreach,
like doing a FAX blast and being a media contact
I can't do it - I'll be on site fasting so I'm not going to be
much use telecommunicatively speaking.
come help create community space for performance,
teach ins, sing ins, sunrise ceremonies, make the
space sacred (if that's your thing) etc!

Why give up your spring break for this action?
Going to the beach or to Lake Tahoe sounds pleasant and relaxing, but we are concerned with the lives of people effected by the US invasion of Iraq, interventions in Colombia and the Phillipines, and the fact is that oppressed people get no 'spring break'. In solidarity with impacted people, we are sacrificing our spring break.
What does fasting have to do with the concern?
The governments and corporations in the world that support violence to control the distribution of natural resources, labor, and markets, do so at the behest of a rampant consumerism. The OVERCONSUMPTION of all things is challenged by fasting. We affirm that we can live with less through this action. Reducing the demand for goods reduces the profit motives for war, and frees up taxes for health care and education.
Fasting affirms the inner strength of all people. All people, especially United States citizens, CAN survive and thrive with less.
Fasting is a traditional form of protest employed in historic movements for social change, including labor rights of Russian miners, international human rights, civil rights, and peace.
