People of color built this country. Or are you forgetting history. Oh, that's right I forgot real facts are not taught in school. As for entitlement, aren't people entitled to proper treatment based on the consitiution. 60% of the military is made up of "people of color". "Lazy asses" fighting an unjust and illegal war so you can call them nigger, spicks, and slant eyes, as you drive your SUV and sip your Starbucks coffee picked by the sweat and slavery of "people of color". Your comments are a spit in the face of every "person of color" who died in the military for this country so you can have the freedom to be a racist asshole. And by the way, THE REST OF THE WORLD IS MADE UP OF PEOPLE OF COLOR!

The original comment was a response to the photo which was deleted. It was the first response written by some one with the name of Dio (something) to people of color. He refered to us as being opportunists and lazy. But I am glad to see there is still rage when a person of color speaks out against anything. "With us or against us" sounds a lot like George Bush II. Funny how your not talking about the high numbers of people of color in prison and in the military. All you can call me is some sort of "left liberal". The issue still has yet to be addressed by the left publicly. Why are so many people of color in the military and in prison! What are we going to do about that!

Two things:

1. There are slightly (like less than 2%) more minorities/persons of color/etc in the military than white people.

2. The VAST majority of front line troops...(you know, the ones who get shot at?)...are white guys.

Look it up, sport, before you go shooting your mouth off.

"Tom Ricks observed in a January 1997 article for the Wall Street Journal, the "old stereotype about the Army's front-line units being cannon fodder laden with minorities" is false.

The fact is that blacks disproportionately serve in Army combat-service support units, not combat units. When Ricks wrote his piece, such units had become "majority minority," with more black soldiers than white. By contrast, he observed, the infantry, which generally suffers the most casualties in wartime, had become "whiter than America." African Americans constituted nine percent of the infantry, compared to 11.8 percent of the age eligible civilian population. In 1995, 79 percent of the new troopers were white, compared with 74.3 percent of civilians. There is little evidence to suggest that these figures have changed much over the last five years....

....blacks tend to stay enlisted longer: Though only 22% of today's recruits are black, the Army itself is 30% black."

In addition, most pilots are white, as are most special-operations forces, e.g. Navy SEALS and Army special-forces. This leads one to the conclusion that in a war, middle-class white kids, not minorities, would be at the greatest risk, since they make up the bulk of the combat arms. So much for the conventional wisdom."


Conclusion: The white guys get shot first.

Quit your harping about the military.

Well......

I have to say that I am excited that people are taking a position that is positive towards the effects of a military society. I am currently in the military myself and have to say that I always wondered why the public schools didnt do well teaching the basics until I learned that those who arent accepted into a college usually have know where to turn but the military. This is a cycle that I think needs exposure. Being in the military, I am not allowed to become vocal on the subject but I hope someone with your zeal does. We need to stop lying to our youth , telling them that someday they can be president too.... This is a bullshit lie. Lets get real and tell the children that if they dont hve money or ascolarship they will have to fight one of Americas many enimies like me.
