CFL ALERT: NATIONAL DAY OF ADVOCACY FOR PALESTINE-- TELL YOUR REPRESENTATIVES YOU EXPECT IMMEDIATE IMPLEMENTATION OF THE ROAD MAP TO PEACE.
CFL encourages you to participate in a nation wide "National Day of Advocacy for Palestine." On April 1, 2003 about 3000 Pro-Israeli activists will converge on D.C. to attempt to stall the U.S. Road Map for Peace and to ask that billions of dollars in aid be sent immediately to Israel. We strongly encourage citizens of conscience to join in the national campaign of advocacy for Palestine by emailing and calling their Representatives. The Bush Administration has stated time and time again that American involvement in securing Palestinian statehood relied on Palestinians meeting key American demands. The Palestinians have met key demands of the Bush Administration and the time to move forward with the Road Map to Peace is NOW. Let your Representatives and the President know that you support the Road Map and its immediate implementation.
TALKING POINTS:
* In March of 2003, Palestinians met a key American demand for reform by electing a Prime Minister with real powers. It is time for President Bush to put pressure on Israel to obey international law and end its occupation of Palestine.
* Sec. Of State Colin Powell stated on March 25, 2003 that the U.S. wants to avoid circular discussion over the Road Map, American citizens and the International Community are therefore expecting direct implementation of the Road Map.
*On March 25, 2003, British Foreign Minister, Jack Straw said on an interview with the BBC that American/European double standards on Iraqi UN violations and violations by Israel needed to end: "There is a real concern too that the West has been guilty of double standards -- on the one hand saying the United Nations Security Council resolutions on Iraq must be implemented; on the other hand, sometimes appearing rather quixotic over the implementation of resolutions about Israel and Palestine." Demand that Bush no longer ignore these double standards; as the war with Iraq rages on the Palestinian-Israeli conflict is an elephant in the room that this country can no longer ignore.
