i'm confused, what happened to the riot gear?
by Brainz4Bush
All I can think of when I look at that picture is "Wrestlemania".
by duh!
They know there's no need for it.
by Tim
Because they KNOW the pro-war activists won't become violent, throw rocks at them, or start destroying things.

how can they smile like that in times like these, they dont see what is going on.they dont read the real news, they dont c the dead men, women and children.yes they have the freedom of speach to be there and support their ideas but first of all they should get informed of whats REALLY going on.they r blinded by what they think, its patriotic, but it is just a symbol of hate, racisism, abuse of nations and peoples and most of all IGNORANCE.

Those BASTARDS! Who the hell do they think they are? Don't they know that our boys are in the desert putting their lives on the line as we speak just so they can use Old Glory for a do-rag!?!?!

Just kidding.... :)

Actually, they are desecrating the flag, though. The way I see it, if you're gonna desecrate the flag and possibly face federal charges, at least do it right. I personally prefer to begin my flag desecrations by smearing feces all over the stars and stripes, setting it on fire, and then dumping the ashes in one of the urinals at a local leather bar.

So what happened to that one cop's neck (2nd from the right0? Did he lose it in the first Gulf War?

by AnarchoJihad
Yeah, the pro-war activists won't become violent.

They only advocate the destruction of a country.

by Charlie Daniels
I'm confused. Aren't those cops out of uniform?
by aaron
when i drove past the Civic Center on Larkin and shouted to a small knot of flag-wavers that they're imbecilic sheep a piggie in a cop car behind me honked his horn a couple times and screamed "they (meaning the foolies on the corner) are defending your right to say that."

by Scott
These officers should have done this out of uniform. By trying to portray the SFPD as solidly pro-war they are going to undermine the efforts of the entire SFPD in dealing with protesters later. They give ammunition to those who say the police are on one side (Bush, corporations, war, violence, take your pick) instead of just doing their job with crowd control. They also show that top brass (those not waiting for trial anyway), by condoning this, has a certain viewpoint that supports unnecessary violence in another country and here at home, and takes sides in this divisive issue of war in Iraq.

<P> These bandanna-wearing officers are probably the first ones out there gleefully swinging their batons when they get the chance, deluded that their job is 'winning the war at home' and kicking some protester ass, rather than keeping the peace.
by Real San Franciscan
Why were you driving wasting gas? Don't you know that Iraqis are dying for you to do that? You obviously don't live in SF as most of the true peace activists DON'T DRIVE.
by Bush Admirer
Way to go, RSF. Whenever we conservatives don't have an argument, we can always try to move the conversation off on a tangent by throwing up some imbecilic purist (il)logic. Good job!
by red-blooded-american
How can people be ignorant by looking at hard facts, not biased emotions? Why do "peace" rallies turn violent? Because there are too many people with too little to do! Pay a little more attention to whats going on, and quit trying to pick a fight with every cop, soldier, and real american. If you don't like it, you can always move to China. I hear they have your kind of totalianism there. And 'student in this world', maybe ask your mommy if you can be a student of the English language. It might give your perspective some degree (however minute) of legitamacy. (http://www.m-w.org if you have trouble with the big words)
by red-blooded-american
In accordance with my own advice, I meant totalitarianism, not totalinism. :)
by Revolution for the Hell of it
Didn't Abbie Hoffman get arrested for wearing the American flag as clothing?
by Bush Admirer
Way to go. Whenever we conservative trolls don't have an argument, we can always resort to the trusty "love it or leave it."
by repost from KPIX
San Francisco police officers have been told to watch what they wear under their helmets a protests, after top brass found out that some officers were wearing American flag scarves on their heads.

As many as four officers were seen wearing the American flag scarves at last Saturday's "support the troops" rally. Some people who are against the war complained that they were intimidated by the headwear

why is that the bottom line? maybe you should give support for your assertions. also you think anyone that is intimidated by the flag has problems. what about iraqi soldiers? or saddam, it seems like they would be very logical in being intimidated by the flag, as would the people of haiti, panama, nicaragua, el salvador, chile, and many more that america has caused great harm to in the last century. also how does wearing a flag on your head show support of our troops? how is being in favor of a war in which are troops die suporting them. it is my opinion that wanting our troops to come home and be given jobs and housing is really supporting them.\
by John Q Public
Since when is the American flag a political issue? If people truly believe the good of this Country does not outweigh the bad, then why are they living here? pretty simple really, if this Country is soooo bad .......LEAVE
No you can't always have it your way, it's not a democracy
Life is not fair
And we are all not created equal
Accept this and you will live a much happier life
Yet the USA is still the greatest Country this earth has ever seen. So quit crying about the Flag and move on with your life.

two points...first of all, yes, they ARE defending your right to say that. If you hate police so much, answer your own 911 calls from now on. Second, last time I checked, wearing an American flag was not "pro-war", it was "pro-american". If you consider yourself anti-American, and you're an American, logically I suppose you'd be against yourself. Sounds kinda ridiculous, huh?

"Because Bush was a selected Prez, he can do anything he wants. He's above the law because he's an illegal Prez from start."

"Because these cops are to pretect you and your rights, they can do whatever they want. They have no department guidelines to follow because they are wearing the American flags (our sacred flag on their sweaty greasy hair) on their head. By illegal fuzzy logic, they automatically make them God and above all police department's guidelines and laws."
