first of all, it was many days into the war before a single iraqi casualty was shown, while on reputable internet sites (like the brit papers and bbc) pictures were being shown starting on day 2.

remember 'tariq aziz is defecting'? LIE

remember 'we found a chemical plant'? LIE

remember 'commander of 8000 troops surrenders'? LIE

remember 'uprising in basra'? LIE

even before it started, remember 'nigerian uranium to iraq'? LIE

kinda makes you wonder about the '70% favor the war' polls, eh?

you too can see through the lies, simple start reading the foreign press. locally channel32 shows the german news in english. it's still coporate blather, but the top story usually concentrates on civilians.

top story on cnn: missle hits kuwait: 0 dead.

top story on german dw-tv: us missle hits another market, KILLING FIFTY CIVILIANS.

I don't have cable and hardly ever catch CNN, but last Monday, after things started going noticably sour for the US, I caught a half hour. It was so fucking absurd. The anchor, after reporting on unexpected ambushes, fierce battles, friendly fire mistakes, the Kuwait fragging (etc) finished by saying that all these mishaps "prove that even in successful campaigns bad things can go wrong."

Further to address the question, 'what are they lying about' and apart from the many lies that started the war 'we know they have all these hidden wmd's that the inspectors can never find'. The media is guilty of the lies of omission. The omissions are the human side of the civilian population of iraq. You here nice writeups about the families of dead GI's and nothing about the families of the many dead children bombed at market by US tomohawks. it's completely bisased propoganda.

These are NOT lies. They are just...the Fog of War. Yeah, that's the ticket. Fog of War. An Honest Mistake. Nothing More.
