Mon. 3/31 Waves of Collateral Damage in SF
Come join a peaceful action in San Francisco on Monday 3/31 to highlight the unnecessary deaths in the War on Iraq. People dressed in black with white face paint and placards about their death will walk through the financial district and up to Union Square. No civil disobedience is planned.
COME TO JUSTIN HERMAN PLAZA DRESSED IN BLACK
What: Waves of Collateral Damage Wander through downtown San Francisco.
When: Monday March 31, 2003
Time: 7am - 9:30am, 11:45am - 2:15pm, 4:45 - 7:00 (there are three shifts)
Mood: somber, profound, silent, peaceful.
Goal: To continue bringing reality to the streets of San Francisco. People throughout the city must not forget what is resulting from U.S. action in Iraq as they go about their daily routine in SF. This is meant to be a non-arrestible activity but there are not guarantees on the streets of San Francisco.
Details: We will have people dressed in black gather at Justin Herman at the beginning of the times stated above. They will be given a placard to wear (back and front) and white powder on their face.
The placard will say:
COLLATERAL DAMAGE
Iraqi civilian #"X" or US Soldier #"Y"
Killed in "location in Iraq"
On "date"
YOUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK
Groups of 10 people start from Justin Herman plaza (mix of Iraqi civilians and US soldiers) to wander in downtown SF (both financial and shopping district) for a few hours wandering into shopping centers, banks, building lobbies, in BART stations, just walking on the sidewalk. Processions will be active during key times - morning, lunch and end of the workday. The goal is to get at least 10 groups of 10 people for each shift (100 for each shift, more is better).
Morning and lunchtime shift routes: Groups will choose a number of locations to maximize exposure:, BART stations, food courts, SF shopping center, Embarcadero center, Union Square.
Final shift: Procession at the end of the day will gather in Justin Herman Plaza at 4:45. At 5:00pm the procession will begin walking up Market street to terminate in Union square with a candle light vigil.
!!PLEASE DRESS IN BLACK!!
