Ancient Redwood Trees Need You!!!
Forest Defenders need your help defending Ancient Trees and Water Quality In Freshwater! Today, March 27, Pacific Lumber contracted fallers cut tree named "Ripple", despite being informed that the tree was tied with rope to adjacent trees! Maxxam charges on as landslides and clearcuts consume Humboldt County watersheds!
Corporate profits continue to take precedence over public concern and environmentally sound forest management as Maxxam's Savings and Loan debt eats away at the last few ancient trees left on the steep and unstable freshwater slopes. Dozens of landslides litter the Freshwater watershed and other Pacific Lumber "timberlands" in Humboldt County. P.L's hazardous logging practices and extremely dangerous Tree-sitter extraction process show how the safety and concern of Humboldt County residents and the health of local ecosystems are blatantly disregarded. Texas based Maxxam Corporation CEO, Charles Hurwitz Is paying his debt to the Federal Government with Humbold County's Ancient Trees! Please help to end this tragic waste of local resources and stand economical "boom and bust" mentality

here is another plea from the self-rightous tree-sitters! why don't i see these people at rallies somewhere that is important, like the court house. what did julia bring in? i heard that it was over $350,000, did any of it get spent for rallies someplace where it would be effective, no! so i'm supposed to give you all my money cause you are sitting in a tree, that isn't going to be saved. doesn't make sense to me. let's have more rallies in their faces, instead of hiding in the forest where no-one can see or hear you
Dear "Where Are You" and all others!
I wonder where you are, "where are you" because We (freshwater tree-sitters) have been at all the rallies you speak of. I know others have, though all I chose to speak for right now is We Save Trees, a group I have been a part of since the beginning. We Were at 3 of the concerts tabling in S.F. over New Years.....We tabled and passed out handbills (on tree-free paper) at all the S.F. anti-war rallies since the new years....We were at the big Peace Rally in Eureka 2 weeks ago, tabling, selling baked goods, and passing handbills. We were at the benefit concert in Briceland, where we set up a table, and also spoke. We were at the Sound Tribe Sector 9 show, that certainly had a large crowd, on Monday where we Tabled, and we were also talked about by the performers on stage. We were also at the logging expo/conference in Eureka last week as well. Also We have put out 100's of pictures, 4 movies, dozens of full page color photo flyers, a T-shirt, 4 movies, not to mention the Media outreach and time doing live interviews around the country, emailing the facts and photos to newspapers all around the country, even giving CNN the details about whats really going on in the Redwood Forest! We have also been present at the courthouse. Our people have filled courtrooms, filed lawsuits, rallied, and had night time vigils for other We Save Trees activist spending jail time for NON-VIOLENT CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE!
We have also built and maintained the largest tree-sit village I know of, protecting an area the size of more than 2 football fields, sent hundreds of people up trees, and helped to change their lives, as well as our own. I
Believe the problems occuring in the forest are due to unsustainable corporate BOOM AND BUST logging being pushed on the hard working residents and locals in the timber COMMUNITY (not INDUSTRY for there is a big difference!!!!!!) by MAXXAM, a company that doesnt care about the timber COMMUNITY or the ENVIRONMENT! The problem is because all over the country....middle class Americans are building a new REDWOOD DECK! The problem lies in overconsumption. The problem is not in just 1 bad logging plan.....It is in bad logging plans on top of bad logging plans on top of and adjacent to other bad logging plans. Its called Cumulative Effects! To say the problem is in the tree-sitters, some of the few peple in this resource hungry society who are actually doing the right thing, is a totally asinine, and ludicrous statment.
Please, If you feel the job of Forest Defense is not being done in a manner in which you think is best and is not a worhty cause to donate to, then that is your choice, dont. But if you have any better ideas, which you seem to believe that you do, by all means, PLEASE, act on them!!!!! Do It! Dont just spend your time criticizing the work of others as you sit there on your arse in front of your computer all day!
P.S. I wrote the article written above and Im sorry, I lost my connection while uploading to Indymedia, and the article was cut off! there were 6 pics of last weeks actions, which we were also a major part of and several more paragraphs of good info. I will get that out on the next posting. Thanx May the Forest be With You!

I agree. People should go and help save the Redwoods. Redwoods have outlasted many many wars. People need to help save them. Once they are gone...they are gone forever :(
Who speaks for the trees? No one can, really. It's up to us to save them, they are crying every time their branches are felled by chainsaws.
Do you hear their cries? I do :(

you are high
So.... How do trees cry? What does it sound like when trees cry? I've spent a great deal of time around trees, even around some that have been distressed (by bug and fungus damage, injured by other trees falling against them, and I've even cut a few trees down). I've never heard trees cry. I don't think that they can, as they have no means to cry.
I'm trying to figure out what mechanism that a tree could possibly use to cry. I've scanned various silvics, botany, arboriculture, and even a few gardening books, and I haven't been able to discover how trees can cry.
Maybe its because trees don't have brains or neurons or vocal cords or any of the physical attributes that could make an organism cry. I am conluding that you are an anthropocentric goofball, and that you are high, Pagan.
Did the garbanzo beans cry as they where mashed into your hummus? Did they cry as you scooped them up and ate them? Did they cry as you abandoned them in the toilet and flushed them away?
Do you hear the garbanzo beans' cries? I don't either:)

trees may not have any vocal capacity to cry, but for many years people have been hearing them wail as they fall to the ground. i believe it was colonel shepherd that comments upon his conquest of the western frontier about how he could face the grueling sounds of war, but listening to the sad song of the cedars as they were cut down was too much for his heart to bear. no they may not cry, but they will break your heart as they sing their death song.
well, i don't sit in front of my computor all day, cause i don't have or want one! i do go to protest rallies, mostly for tree-saving purposes, i proably know you lodgepole, i have been in this scene for over 10 years, the love pod took thousands of dollars, and where is that tree? it is now a deck somewhere! put more effort in rallies, not thoewing it down the drain causr you can't save the tree you are sitting in, or are you going to spend $50,000 like julia
But think of the canoes we could make.
Were there six more pics you were going to re-post? The community here is watching and hoping and praying for your success in saving our heritage forests for us.
