iraqi attitude towards british troops
italian media today shown iraqi attitude towards british troops
today all the italian news programs show one of the most incredible scene of the war in Iraq. A convoy of the UNDP escorted by british troops distributed food to the population of a small village in the Faw peninsula, an area populated by scitis population "liberated" since the first day of war. The iraqis, after the distribution, started to sing a patriotic song and then chanted slogans against Bush. The british sergent was incredulous and when the reporter asked him the reason of that situation, he said that since the first day the iraqi people was totaly ostile to the troops, even when they give them food, water or medicines.
I don't know if you in America saw the same scene, but i think you must to know that iraqi people won't receive troops with flowers, as someone in your government said some days ago.
respect for the americans that opposite this criminal war!

If it's true someone has pictures of it online somewhere....Al-J woul be all over this type of thing and even they haven't put up anything like this....
You missed part of the story. Journalists also report that before and after the cameras were on, the Iraqis claimed to have no love for either Saddam or the US.
Being unsure of Saddam's fate, of course they will perform the song-and-dance -- they know what happens when they don't show "respect".

You're right that people in Iraq don't show disrespect for Hussein publicly without fear of reprisals. But the above post doesn't claim that these people were making laudatory statements about Hussein.
Much to the chagrin of US war-planners, hatred for Hussein doesn't mean love or admiration for America.
Anyone who knows the history of Iraq over the course of the past forty years knows why this is the case. Iraqi's know that the US supported Hussein, double-crossed his opponents countless times, imposed deadly sanctions on the entire country, and, all in all, assisted in the murder of millions of people within Iraq's borders.

=======
Those were UN sanctions (and don't tell me that UN=US -- just ask the French)
Millions of people within the border? The most-agreed upon figures are 5,000 civilians dead and 35-50,000 soldiers dead in GWI. Only about one million Iraqis were killed in all of Saddam's wars. Is that what you are talking about? Why don't you blame the French and Soviets? After all, they supplied the hardware. Or the Germans? They supplied the chemicals, didn't they??
