Seattle Pigs Bravely Beat Up Senior Citizen March 22
SPD Riots As Planned: An elderly man randomly being picked from the crowd and then beaten in the street during anti-war protest March 22 and SPD riot.
Another witness account by Anne O'Neill: I saw an elderly white man who was picked at random by police and in plain view of everyone (there were only about 100 people around in the immediate vicinity) get beat up for no reason by first one, and then two and three police officers and then cuffed and taken into custody. He had been doing nothing but standing together with the crowd. They attacked the senior citizen immediately after a cop approached a blond pony-tailed teenage girl, shoving her in the back and then pushing and shoving her violently. Neither victim of police violence was doing anything to attract attention to themselves nor did either respond or react, but it certainly looked as if the police hoped to incite a response from the crowd to come to the rescue of the girl or the old man (after all, it's only natural to protect the weak and helpless), but the well-trained crowd reacted appropriately by collectively yelling "Shame!" and pointing at the cops while videotaping the incidences. The senselessness of the act and the extreme and random violent tactics applied, together with the helplessness of their victims would imply that the police were looking for some pretext to wreak the same or worse on the crowd or to characterize the event as violent (which it was not) or to look for an excuse to arrest everyone there.
