Protest Friday: 5:00pm Powell and Market
Lets gather for a march this Friday
These Colors Don’t Run…The World
They May Even Ruin It
Protest the War
Friday March 28, 2003
5:00 pm Powell and Market
As we keep up the pressure to end this senseless war we shouldn't forget the last day of the business week. Others will be at the monthly Critical Mass bike ride, but if you are not, come to Powell and Market for an anti-war march.
We are not an organization calling for an organized march but people who have taken part in many spontaneous marches over the last few days. So come prepared to self organize, take initiative and Take the Streets!

Regarding the Protests and "Civil Disobedience" in San Francisco.
What is the point of keeping people, most of whom are against the war themselves from going to work and living their lives?
Are you/they arrogant enough to think that the Protests will change anything?
If you want to stop the war, it is too late, if you want to raise peoples awareness, you presume too much.
People have acccess to as much information as they want already and as no one is going to change your mind, what chutzpah it is to think that by adding stress and intentionally annoying people who already have enogh to deal with, you are going to change theirs.
What are the positive results of this?
If you want to commune with folks who feel the way you do, go ahead but why must you screw up other peoples lives because they deal with the crisis differently?
Further the cost of this is bound to come from taxes, cuts to social services and educational programs.
I don't want the war or to pay for it, I even less want to pay for the cost of spoon banging attention seekers.
If you want to change something, shouldn't you go to Washington?

The point is to keep people present and aware that each day there is an unjust war taking place in Iraq.
I could go into all the reasons, but I want to directly address this to the previous comment.
The presence of protesters whether they stop traffic, target corporations who profit from the war, or stand in silent vigil keeps our politicans reminded that there are still people who are against this war.
If after our Wed.-Sat. of protests there was nothing then people may have the false impression that we are starting to agree. The point is no matter how long this war lasts we still do not agree.
Blocking traffic makes news. If the media would cover a small number of stationary peaceful protesters, if the consuming public would be reminded by such continuous quiet action and if the police would let us alone to have daily stationary events...then protestors would not need to do outrageous acts to bring attention to the international illegality and human rights violations that this war is inflicting on an already war-ravished population.
To indicate that we will not accept the extent of our freedom is dictated to us by the government and we understand that there are consequences to these actions and we accept it.
During the Neuremburg Trials and the massacres in Vietnam it was determined that those who stand-by while autrocities are commited are culpable to the crimes.
We will not be responsible for sitting silently at home while Bush, his administration, the military complex and large corporations commit murder and defy international law and order, for thier personal gains.
Washington D.C. is far away. What are you doing to avoid culpability?
PEACE!
