Cops trap citizens on sidewalk, won't allow people freedom to leave area, regardless of their involvement in protest action or not.
Around 5PM on March 22, protestors on Market Street were ordered to the sidewalks.
Suddenly about 100 cops closed ranks and trapped everyone - shoppers, protestors, anyone who happened to be on the sidewalk - we told they were not to attempt to cross the line.
A little later, after they finally allowed people to walk away, heavily armed officers were spotted on 7th Street - check out the photos.

looks like a paintball gun....it appears to have a paintball bulk loader attachment on the top....I could be wrong
The weapon I think is a paintball gun is in this image, p1010033.jpg, image/jpeg, 300x400 ......if the pressure is turned up high enough, paintballs can bruise and draw blood, especially if the paintballs are hard. And they could blind you.
the "paintball gun" actually shoots pepper-balls. Basically, they're like paintballs, only instead of being filled with paint, they're filled with pepper spray/powder. They burst open on impact - they are intended for cops to, for instance, fire several into the chest of a suspect wielding a knife, when approaching within conventional pepper spray range would be dangerous.
Getting hit with a pepper ball hurts a little less than getting hit with a paintball, because they tend to have a slightly lower mass. These don't hurt nearly as bad as getting hit with a real rubber bullet, so if this is all you get, you can walk away pretty happy (in the scheme of this police state).

The heavily armed guys are not SFPD but Federal officers with the Federal Protective Service. From what I understand they are not to messed with and do not have to follow SFPD rules of engagement.

That's right the Federal Protective Service Officers do not have to fellow the same rules as the locals. As a local and having worked some of these protests it is a great thing. The officers that are only doing their jobs are assaulted and battered. Maybe the Federal Police can give the protesters a little bit of their own medicine. One could only hope.

FEDS DEFEND CONSTITUTIONAL/CIVIL RIGHTS!!!!!
What alot of so called protesters don't understand is that blocking access to the federal buiding simply denies hundreds of people of their own constitutional and civil rights. The federal building is a courthouse! "Protesters" are stopping defense attorneys from defending their clients and possibly freeing them from jail. Citizens are prevented from pleading their cases to the IRS and bakruptcy courts. There are also numerous civil cases and other legal process that occurs daily in the federal building in San Francisco. The right to speak and protest is granted to all in America. However you do not have the right to deny others of their rights.
More importantly by taking militant illegal action at the fedreal building you are preventing federal law enforcement agencies from conducting very important law enforcement business such as fighting domestic terrorism and apprehending dangerous criminals.
MOST MISUNDERSTOOD is that it is not ones constitutional/civil right to block access to a federal courthouse. It is against the law. There are many vioaltion in the federal statute to choose from. Tresspassing and obstruction of justice to name a few. There are a number of authors that are correct in stating that federal agents FPS, U.S. Marshals, DEA, FBI , etc.. do not follow the same operating procedures as the SFPD. Much to the dismay of most readers of this web site the OCC has no authority at all over federal agencies. OCC members can be arrested just as easily as any other protester. Federal agents will use necessary force within their respective policies to accomplish their mission. Federal agents are not compelled to make arrests. As many protesters witnessed federal agents used force to allow access to the federal building at will. THE FEDERAL BUILDING WAS NEVER CLOSED!!!!!!!! Federal agents controlled access.
The above stated comments explain why protesters have not returned to 450 Golden Gate Ave. There is no statement to be made there and illegal activities will be met with force not politics.

We are not judging all protesters by the stupid actions of a few. Why not give us the same, and don't judge us by the actions of ONE.
i personally did not meet anybody who had driven anywhere in a 30-year old bus from anywhere, mr/ms assumptions. everybody that i talked to either biked, walked or took public transporation, as i did. those from out of town took trains....oh well, so much for your argument.
