Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Ok, help me understand, here.
Congress hasn't made any laws abridging the right of the people peaceably to assemble, RIGHT? And the police are charged with enforcing the law, RIGHT?
So, shouldn't the police be stopping vehicular traffic to allow these peaceable anti-war assemblies to happen? RIGHT? Where does all this "break it up," stuff come from? It's pretty clearly unconstitutional, isn't it? , but the law enforcers don't? I don't get it.
In Chicago 10,000 people peaceably assembled with no arrests. Get a few thou together in SF,
