Peaceably Assemble?

by Person
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.
Ok, help me understand, here.

Congress hasn't made any laws abridging the right of the people peaceably to assemble, RIGHT? And the police are charged with enforcing the law, RIGHT?

So, shouldn't the police be stopping vehicular traffic to allow these peaceable anti-war assemblies to happen? RIGHT? Where does all this "break it up," stuff come from? It's pretty clearly unconstitutional, isn't it? , but the law enforcers don't? I don't get it.

In Chicago 10,000 people peaceably assembled with no arrests. Get a few thou together in SF,

Oh, Yeah. One more thing: Be sure to wear flowers in your hair (

I wittnessed a number of CHP and SFPD officers with no badges on their uniforms yesterday. One of the CHP officers gave us protesters the choice to "go left, right or to the hospital." Getting arrested was not one of his options. They seem to like to push people around, and I got pushed several times during the day WHILE COMPLYING WITH THE OFFICERS' WISHES. This is a scare tactic, and it left me afraid. I feel that if we are not blocking traffic, we should be able to assemble in front of any damn building we wish!!! It is our right. Let's support each other in our efforts to end this horrible war!!! Call police on their suspicious tactics, and take down badge numbers, if they have badges on!

Just thugs hiding behind a badge.
Kinda like Bush hiding behind a Bible.

They have so much in common with the pilots dropping 2000 bombs on Baghdad: Amerika fights the cowards war.

Bush and cops: gassing their own people just like Saddam.

We are 100% volunteer and depend on your participation to sustain our efforts!
