7th and Mission

by Darksyde888
I was released sometime around 6 yesterday. I took part in the BB that met up at civic center sometime around noon. We made the same mistake of going down mission st (like m15), instead of sticking to market. The police came down 6th st. and rushed us- because of the cars and buses in the street, not all of us made it out, including myself. We got together and lined up to face off the police line at the corner of 7th and mission, did a countdown and tried to rush their line, some made it through, most did not. I saw a guy carrying a black flag make it past the police line, only to be beaten like rodney king by 5-6 cops- i hope someone got it on video so we can expose these storm troopers for what they really are. The police divided the crowd in two, down the middle and started beating people with batons to push us against the buildings. the cops confiscated bicycles (declared them "abandoned property") and other stuff and made a few arrests. The cops were ordered by a ranking officer to back off the sidewalk and told us to move a bit forward- the cops surounded us in a box- kept us separated for a bit. They singled out people in the crowd and made arrests and more beatings. The SOSB head guy was there, took his pic, will post pics up soon. We heard news of a rescue march headed our way. but they were contained i believe. A lot of people had to pee in the streets- we were out there for hours, and I noticed pervert cops looking at women pee.
I was arrested sometime around 4-5- got a ride on the party bus aka the sheriffs bus and we were taken to pier 27 ( the pens set up in the pier looked sorta like ww2 concentration camps). While waiting to get cited, an old lady of about 50-60 years was brought in screaming by 5 sheriffs or cops. she complained her stomach hurt. Myself and others that were penned in the pier tried to help her, she complained of stomach pains- a cop kicked her as she got arrested, and she kept calling for a doctor. The police told us to back off when some incompetent medical technician they had on hand checked her out. The cops were just assholes to the lady- giving her attitude and refusing to let her see a real doctor. When i was getting cited I heard a fire truck and paramedics coming to the pier, I think they came for her, I hope she is ok. The behavior of the police disgusted me but I was sort of expecting them to react that way- they brain wash them really well.

but anyway here are some lessons i learned- stay off mission, and that market is the key to the city. Perhaps we need runners to check the blocks up ahead for any incoming police- I heard of other groups using this tactic and they were always a step ahead of the police. I think that might help in keeping the bloc together and safe from traps. If anyone has photos or video of 7th-6th and mission please post- the world has to see what they did to us.

i was also arrested with the black bloc crowd. it all happened at aproximately 1:30. there were between 200 and 400 people who were arrested on 7th and mission. we were all charged with "rioting" and "blocking traffic" except a few who were charged with more. i was held until 9pm on pier 27. there was a group of girls who decided to do jail solidarity, but i believed the police tried seperating them and im not sure how that turned out. the police were extremely brutal and aggressive. when it happened, i was taking pictures from the sidewalk, but was still arrested with both charges. every person on that 7th and mission was arrested, whether they were a member of the blac block, a regular passer-byer, a shopper, or like me, a photographer. it was fucked.

They blocked everyone in really fast. It was a non violent protest, but cops attacked and beat the crowd for tactical purposes. I was also photographing this and was actually really surprised at how peaceful everyone was.
