Vandenberg threatens to use deadly force against protesters
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE -- Security forces at Vandenberg Air Force Base may use "deadly force" against protesters if they infiltrate the military complex and a war starts, officials said.
Some anti-war activists plan to trespass onto base grounds in hopes of disturbing Vandenberg’s mission and to vandalize sensitive equipment they contend helps guide the war effort.
Vandenberg officials revealed Friday that military security police may shoot to kill, if necessary, to protect base residents and machinery.
The directive has always been in existence, but a base spokeswoman said it is more critical now that people understand its severity.
"This is not fun and games anymore," said Maj. Stacee Bako. "We’re living in post 9/11. We don’t know what’s going to happen with the war effort in Iraq. These folks have got to realize their actions. … They’re illegal intruders."
"Deadly force can be used when lesser means of force aren’t feasible or have failed, and to protect (Department of Defense) assets designated as vital to the national security," she explained.

Capitalist scum like those who kill peaceful protesters in places like Palestine, the redwood forests and (maybe) Vandenberg will soon be reminded that those who make peaceful resistance impossible make violent resistance inevitable.
Every human is born with the right to free speach. It was not given to us by a benevolent government. If giving a politician half a million dollars in exchange for political favors is considered free speech, then i don't see why trespassing should even be a crime at all.
In any case, it would be pretty sad if our military, with 500 Billion dollar budget, couldn't prevent a few unnarmed, peace activists from getting anywhere near anything sensitive.
The statements made by the DOD are nothing more than an indimidation tactic, and if something crazy were to happen to these people, it would be up to us to hold all those involved, especially those higher-ups who give the orders, accountable for their actions.

1. Free speech is guaranteed by the Constitution...by our "Benevolent Goverment." While it is nice for people to have, the entire world is not onboard with that idea.
2. It is a Military installation. Protest all you want outside. But, security of military bases is a prominent concern of the US today.
Ask yourself this: if people come charging onto a military base and no one forces them off...or even lets them be a major distraction for a while, how does that affect the security of the weapons and equipment that is stored on the base?
I personally think that deadly force is extreme, but that is one of the rights that Military Base Security enjoys.
You have been warned. You all know ahead of time.
If you get shot, you will receive ZERO sympathy from most of the mainstream public.
The military security forces have one objective: Secure the base and any cost.
The military won't back down like Police forces will. The Military will do what it has to do to get the job done.
Here's the scenario:
People on the base without permission? Ask them to leave.
They won't leave peacfully? Forcefully remove them.
They put up a fight? Beat them down.
They present a danger to security? Shoot them in the leg.
They possess weapons? Kill them
The military does not have to be nice. The military does not have to play fair. The military will accomplish it's objectives no matter what.
Remember: you are dealing with people who's basic training is in how to kill people. They are mentally deconstructed and rebuilt to follow orders and kill the enemy. Alot of the Military goes on to get more training on how to kill.
Police = Subdue, pacify, restrain.
Military = Defeat the enemy by any means necessary.
Am I getting through yet?
Take some REAL GOOD ADVICE for a change: Don't tresspass on a base if they are threatening to use deadly force.
Protest off the base. Protest loud and proud and use your rights to express what you believe.
Generally, the military doesn't bluff. Heed their warnings.

As a former Air Force Security Specialist who served in the UK protecting F-111 bombers from CND activists and terrorists after the bombing of Libya - I can assure you that once you enter a military installation with bad intent and refuse to submit "immediately" - you won't be treated to a little pepper spray on a hankie!
Like any anarchist, terrorist or ignorant S.O.B. intent on suicide, you will be duly accomodated by our very capable forces.
You're absent voices during the past "Democratic" bombings and military actions in Kosovo and Somalia
gives much credence to widely held beliefs that your only real bitch about this action is that the president isn't a Democrat, and therefore no longer placating, appeasing and acquiescing to world tyrants. You don't want peace, you want appeasement. Wake up.
Spoiled children of a spoiled generation, what a waste! See you in the "no lone zone" on Vandenberg AFB!!!
