Will the people of San Francisco accept a violent "red squad" gang operating within the SF Police Department?

Recent SFPD internal documents and Indymedia reports from anti-war demonstrations all add up to one thing: political police are extremely active in San Francisco. In some cases, SFPD has violated its own internal policy to spy on people who are against the latest war. The following links include new documents from SFPD, mirrors of the documents posted on the Bay Guardian, and reports from Indymedia about SFPD's red squad intimidation and harrassment tactics.

This is unbelievable. I have seen not one mention of this outside of Indymedia or the Guardian. This SOS bureau needs to be dismantled immediately.
by Greg Suhr
Note that these documents say that Greg Suhr is in charge of political repression in San Francisco. But now he is under criminal indictment, so who has taken over?

Note that for the arrest narratives posted, charges were dropped against these individuals. I know one of them quite well and I know he didn't do the thing they said he did. I can't believe the police report contains out and out lies in it. :(((((((((((((((((((

there is no more america

Clearly the cops here are freedom fighters. As George Carlin said, if fire fighters fight fire, what do freedom fighters fight? These cops should be ashamed of themselves. I hope they cry themselves to sleep at night only to be woken up by their raging ulcers.

Her OCC complaints were actually sustained, despite tremendous efforts by the OCC to whitewash the iincident, and the SFPD to blame the victim.

Seems like this could become a class action lawsuit from anyone who has been arrested at protests since this department was formed. Red squads are illegal in the USA.
by why?
Why is this story being so intensely covered up? I thought we were all interested in what the OHS would be up to. This seems like what they are doing.

Knowing is half the battle!
Richard Bruce comes from a long line of weasels who bootlick the state and bust people trying to voice their opinions. Are you gonna tell me one stupid broken window here and there justifies anything these pigs are doing? I say we sent Richard Bruce to Baghdad within the next 24 hours and then he can see what property destruction is all about.

I have pictures of two men who attempted to intimately photograph a BB huddle on the Civic Center lawn near Polk and Grove, around 3:45 M22. A dumb complication is preventing me from posting them until around the 26. Most likely they were just curious peaceniks but I'll post them anyways. Maybe someone will recognize them.

VAN JONES WILL BE ABLE TO MAKE A KILLING IN THIS ONE EVENT. HE'LL HAVE SO MANY CLIENTS THAT HE'LL HAVE TO FARM THEM OUT TO HIS FRIENDS.

WAR RIOTERS ARE DEMORALIZED, DISHEVELED, TIRED, WEAK, AND ADMITTING THAT THEY HAVE BEEN TAKING MONEY AWAY FROM POOR PEOPLE. ACCORDING TO THE SF CHORNICLE, $900,000/DAY MUST BE SPEND TO BABYSIT THE MOBBERS. THE MOB ARE PRIMARILY RICH WHITE KIDS FROM THE SUBURBS WHO DO NOT LIVE IN SF. THE WORKING POOR, SINGLE MOTHERS, AND IMMIGRANTS ARE HAVING THEIR MOENY STOLEN BY THE MOB. THAT $900,000/DAY COULD BE USED TO HOUSE THE HOMELESS, FEED THE POOR, AND HELP SINGLE MOTHERS ARE IMMIGRANT FAMILIES. MY TAKE IS THAT THE RICH WHITE RIOTERS ARE NOW REALIZING THIS AND ARE GIVING UP HURTING THE POOR.

THE SAD THING IS THAT EVERYONE WHO HAS BEEN ARRESTED NOW HAS AN FBI RECORD, A CALIFORNIA RECORD, AND A SAN FRANCISCO CRIMINAL RECORD. YOU HAVE THIS RECORD FOR LIFE AND THE CIA, FBI, AND POLICE CAN ACCESS YOUR INFORMATION AT ANY TIME. IF IN 2004 YOU ARE CAUGHT SPEEDING, THE COP WILL LOOK UP YOUR RECORD AND SEE THAT YOU TRIED TO SABATAGE USA. THEY WILL NEVER CUT YOU A BREAK AND LITERALLY THROW THE BOOK AT YOU. THIS WILL HAPPEN TO YOU EVERY DAY YOU ARE ALIVE IN USA. ALSO, YOUR RECORD GETS TRANSMITTED TO INTERPOL SO IF YOU ARE BUSTED SAY, FOR DRUGS IN FRANCE, ENGLAND, JAMAICA, OR NICARAGUA, THE COPS THERE WILL ACCESS YOUR CRIMINAL RECORD AND THEN PROCEED TO FUCK YOU UP BY EXTRACTING A HUGE BRIBE FROM YOU OR JUST THROW THE BOOK AT YOU. AS FAR AS EMPLOYMENT GOES, YOU CAN NEVER GET A REAL JOB. YOU’LL HAVE TO END UP SELLING ORANGES ON THE FREEWAY ONRAMP BECAUSE ANY TIME YOU APPLY FOR A REAL JOB, THEY WILL DO A BACKGROUND CHECK AND FIND YOUR CRIMINAL RECORD. REMEMBER, YOUR RECORD IS PERMANANENT, EVEN IF YOU DIE. YOU CAN NEVER GET A JOB AS A SOCIAL WORKER ANYWHERE IN AMERICA BECAUSE SOCIAL WORKERS WORK FOR A GOVT INSTITUTION. THEREFORE, YOU WILL NEVER BE HIRED. I STRONGLY SUGGEST YOU THINK ABOUT THE LONG-TERM RAMIFICATIONS OF BEING ARRESTED. WHO THE HELL WANTS AN FBI # TO HAUNT THEM FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE??

Why do they bother?

Wow, $900,000 per day in police overtime? I only saw the Thursday Channel 7 report, which quoted Fagan claiming $400,000 - $500,000 per day. Let's see, this purely overtime (the cops are already on duty). There seem to be about 250 cops on riot duty: $400,000 / 250 = $1,600 per cop per day. Say they're working 12 hour shifts (probably less: the ones in the morning are not there at night); 4 of those 12 hours are at time and a half, 8 of those hours are already paid for (they're on duty already); that is 10 additional hours of regular pay (4 at 1.5, 8 at half). Wow, that's, according to acting Police Chief Fagan, $160 - $200 /hr on duty cops make on average. (Don't include the highest paid in this number—I imagine they're on contract, not per hour: they're already paid for.)

$160 to $200 per hour. Either Fagan lies to the press to manipulate our democracy-polis, or, with city budget shorfalls, something should be done to reign in out-of-control spending on police salaries. The SF Institutional Police Officers' Association's (the cops' union) contract expires June 30, 2003. (That, plus the problem of little Fagan Junior, is why you see mostly police bullying, not full-scale riots. Speaking of which, pictures of the raging bull cops, the ones who flip out and beat protestors—I saw the same guy do it Thursday and Saturday—I don't have a camera—should be posted to a special web page for public access.)

Peace

Newspaper reports say 1,300 to 2,000 cops on duty. The ones wearing riot gear get hazard pay.
by John Q Public
Actually they dont get hazard pay, although they do get paid handsomely (overtime).
You guys will probably never see this post because my name usually gets my posts quickly deleted, this web page is afraid of the truth and they only want you guys to hear their propaganda ( kinda like Nazi Germany).

I, on the other hand, get my propoganda, no, wait, NEWS, from Fox. Therefore, I know what's REALLY going on.
