Coffin Blockade
Just wanted to share a direct action which can be easily modified to different circumstances and allows room for a variety of different tactical interpretations.
On friday march 14th Norwegian anarchists organized a funeral procession through the streets of Oslo, carrying life size coffins and accompanied by drummers, mournful horn music, and a giant figure of Death. The demonstrators tied up traffic for 45 minutes as they made their way to the Norwegian Department of Defence, where an umbrella organization, The Peace Initiative, had called for a rally.
At the rally site the Peace Initiative issued demands to a representative from the Department of Defence while the anarchists filled the coffins they had carried with sacks of gravel, effectively creating a road block in front of the building.
While there was strong police presence no scuffling took place and everyone was able to leave peacefully. The coffins were left in the road.
