Direct Action Against War In SLC

On Saturday, March 15th at 3:30 a.m. the South Salt Lake Armed Forces Recruiting Center's windows were smashed in a pre-emptive strike against the Bush regime's plans to invade Iraq. George Bush has openly stated that he considers popular protest around the world irrelevant and proven his contempt for democracy and his confusion as to his role as president, which he thinks is "to protect the American people".
WAR IS PEACE- Secretary of Offense Donald Rumsfield and his gang of international terrorists say that they are going to "liberate" Iraq and "bring stability to the region". A cursory look at the history of U.S. intervention tells us what is meant by these statements. Invading a weaker nation, killing a large number of its inhabitants, and installing a despot (we'll refer to him as a 'moderate') who will follow our orders, is what is cynically referred to as "liberation" by the warmongers in D.C. and their PR firms in the corporate controlled media.
FREEDOM IS SLAVERY- By using Cold War style fearmongering, the Department of Homeland Security simultaneously attacks hard-won civil liberties at home and distracts a large percentage of the population from other pressing issues. As capitalism grinds on by exploiting workers and scouring the earth for more resources, institutions of coercion perpetuate our immoral socio-economic system. Brute force is employed abroad in order to ensure obedience while the subtler methods of fear is used at home to ensure that United We Stand... on the rest of the world.
IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH- NBC, CBS, CNN, etc., etc. have dutifully ignored the fact that when the U.S. military invades Iraq, we will be murdering untold numbers of innocent victims already living under Saddam's boot. The standard practice of targeting your victims infrastructure in a war will lead to many innocent lives being lost due to lack of clean water, communication, and transportation facilities.
Our fearless leaders in Washington (and in corporate boardrooms across the country) tell us that we have satellite evidence of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction. If the U.S. was serious about disarming Saddam then why do they not share this intelligence with the UN inspectors? By ignoring these obvious issues, the mainstream media has utterly failed in its democratic duty as a critique of power. Instead they are hard at work manufacturing consent for this immoral war.
While this act of vandalism is small in the larger scheme of things, something must be done to stop this rush to war by our morally crippled leaders. Hint: holding signs and chanting won't do it. If this isn't the time for direct action then when is?
