Here's Part 2 of my Journal for the CD action in Sacramento today. 11 photos too! Read Part 1 to get caught up on the story.

Twenty-three war veterans, teachers, students and others opposed to war in Iraq were arrested today at a rally at the 5th and I Federal Building in Sacramento.
This action is one of many local actions taking place around the country during the coming weeks. According to the Pledge of Resistance, more than 5,000 people have pledged to engage in nonviolent civil disobedience in order to prevent or halt the death and destruction that U.S. military action will bring to the people of Iraq.
"We intend to draw a line for the Bush Administration with our bodies, to oppose this illegal war." said a statement released by the Iraq Pledge of Resistance.
Today's rally was co-sponsored by numerous peace groups

Great pictures! We had a band of 7 people who shut down the Federal Building in Portland Monday....
The pictures show the truth, that the opposition to the war is broad-based and fueled by normal people, as opposed to the de-individualized stormtroopers called "police".

Why did they have to be arrested? Such a waste of law enforcement! I deeply admire those who are peaceful about putting their convictions on the line. Could not get last 2 pics. Glad you published this.

Thes are just the same people who turn up to every demonstration. The same bunch of whingers and troublemakers all of the time. Really, they don't care about the "poor people of Iraq". This is just another excuse for them to make a fuss and go on an ego trip, maybe get their names in the local paper.
If you really cared about freedom and a peaceful future you would support your government. They are doing the right thing. There is no way to deal with the B'aath party but to destroy it.
