Women Will Defeat Bush Over Abortion

by Socialist and Feminist
Our inalienable right to free abortion on demand, paid for with our tax dollars, regardless of age, marital status or income has now been viciously attacked by 65 Neanderthals in the US Senate, encouraged by their fascist leader, the mental midget in the White House.
Our inalienable right to free abortion on demand, paid for with our tax dollars, regardless of age, marital status or income has now been viciously attacked by 65 Neanderthals in the US Senate, encouraged by their fascist leader, the mental midget in the White House.

This little Nazi, George War Bush, is about to learn an old lesson of history: Never attack women!
We women are 53% of the population, and as the majority, our actions have a profound effect.

We won our right to a safe and legal abortion with Roe v. Wade, in 1973, as part of the peace movement against the Vietnam War. The women's movement of that time is now much bigger and broader than ever before, and we are not turning back.

We will not settle for tossing out of office the backward peasants sitting in the US Senate, Congress and the White House who clearly despise women and want to deprive us of our right to control our own bodies. This is the same gang who, as described in the March 2003 issue of Labor Notes, allows supervisors of airport screeners, now federal employees, to demand women screeners prostitute themselves to the supervisors for hiring, scheduling and promotion.

Just like Nazi Germany, Hitler-Bush attacks immigrants, women and labor, all after perpetrating a Reichstag Fire and then blaming it on the victims of fascism, when in fact the events of 9/11/01 were perpetrated by the US military and the CIA.

We will not rest until we have a society with a labor-based Constitution, replacing the capital-based Constitution we now have, which puts property rights before human rights. With a labor-based Constitution, we will not only put human rights first, we will codify our inalienable right to abortion into law, guaranteed free to all by a national healthcare system which in turn provides free, government-funded healthcare and dental care to every resident from cradle to grave. Our right to abortion will and must be for any and all women, regardless of age, marital status or income.

It is not enough to be pro-choice in such times. We must demand our right to abortion loudly and clearly, as part of our many demands of the peace movement, including demanding money for healthcare, not warfare.

To keep up with our fight to extend our right to abortion to all women for any time during the pregnancy, watch the news updates at:

Senate Contradicts Itself By Outlawing Safe Abortion Procedures While Also Voting To Reaffirm Roe V. Wade
Statement of Vicki Saporta, President and CEO of the National Abortion Federation
Washington, DC - As we expected, today the Senate passed legislation that would ban safe abortion procedures by a vote of 65 to 32. In a conflicting vote yesterday the Senate also reaffirmed Roe v. Wade by a margin of 52-46.

S. 3, the so-called "Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Act of 2003," suffers from the same two constitutional flaws as the Nebraska statute the Supreme Court struck down in the Stenberg v. Carhart case in 2000. The bill is written so broadly as to ban the safest and most common abortion procedures used after 12 weeks and well before fetal viability, and it does not contain an exception to protect a woman's health. This legislation clearly defies the Supreme Court's rulings in Roe and subsequent cases.

It is unfortunate that in the extensive floor debate on this bill the rhetoric was both inflammatory and deceptive, with several Senators calling the integrity and professionalism of abortion providers into question. Our member physicians consistently provide the highest quality care to women which is why abortion is one of the safest medical procedures performed in the United States today. It is qualified medical professionals and not politicians with political agendas who should be determining what care is most appropriate for patients.

We fully expect that this legislation will be pushed quickly through the House and signed into law by President Bush. When that happens, the National Abortion Federation will immediately file suit in federal court to enjoin this dangerous and unconstitutional ban. It is important that we continue to safeguard the lives and health of women and ensure that doctors are able to make medical decisions and provide medical care that is in the best interests of their individual patients.
