The films and artists showcased in the fest focus beyond the "bling bling" and "bang bang" of the corporate music video world to dig deep into the history and issues that truly matter to those within the growing global Hip Hop movement. Crossing political, generational, racial and gender boundaries , the Hip Hop Film Fest strives to bring forth the best and boldest films and artists we can find. Beyond a mere musical genre, Hip Hop is an undeniable influence on modern culture via fashion, art, language, and politics. We seek to honor this force and acknowledge and serve a diverse audience... We are seeking help in producing this event in other cities and hope to hear from those interested in these vital visual documents. So far in the last 9 months we have been through Honolulu HI, Albuquerque NM, El Paso TX, Durham NC, San Jose CA, Portland OR and other towns. We hope to hit more cities in the US soon and spread da groove across the globe with socially relevant programming. The currently in motion San Francisco Hip Hop Film Fest is made possible in part by in kind assistance & support from various organizations and allies. We have provided some links to their websites below...Do check out what they are up to! http://www.hardknockradio.com http://www.true-skool.org http://www.redfiveonline.com http://www.notinourname.net http://www.beatsauce.com http://www.onelovehiphop.com http://www.zionicrew.com http://www.oneminutegallery.com http://www.eventmagic.com http://www.hiphopcongress.com http://www.happsmag.com http://www.protest.net http://www.lilycat.com
