Peter Phillips is a Professor at SSU where he directs the internationally acclaimed media program, Project Censored. Peter was invited to speak in Willits CA by the Mendocino County Bill of Rights Committee. He described the work of the students under his direction, who research and correlate under-reported news stories from around the globe. He also spoke to the role of the corporate media in keeping viewers entertained and shopping, by substituting gossip for investigative reporting. And gave several examples of national reporters who have been totally discredited for stepping out of line. Peter also spoke to the power and success of the IndyMedia network, and the importance of American citizens working even harder to prevent the war the media is excitedly selling them.
He was brought to Willits CA by the Mendocino County Bill of Rights Committee. The latest publication of Project Censored is called Censored 2003, available through Seven Stories Press.
