F 16 protester Jack Bay still in jail

by Ralowe (ralowe [at] ralowescrappymusic.com)
Jack Bay still being held from anti-war february 16 protest
visited jack today. it's the first of march and still he hasn't a clue who his lawyer is. i've contacted the national lawyers guild and midnight special law collective. it was my original intention that i not be released until bay has been released. i appreciate the acts of my friends and supporters but the fact is that as it stands the solidarity we had has been dissolved and i fear for jack's safety. when i was in f pod i and another inmate protester witnessed the 5 of the deputy sheriffs assaulting jack. they were throwing him against a wall and i heard jack scream. one of the deputys involved in this i wrote down and will post later as soon as i find the scrap of paper i scribbled it down on. jack was later sent to the psych ward at san francisco general. this is the sort of shit that goes down in deputy greg suhr's regime and im glad to see that his ass got indicited. he was the supposed author of a prison rule book that i got to read when i was shipped to b pod. nothing is more frightening than being the target of deputy terrorism inside with no support. its my belief that someone from homeland security will try to get jack to make up something in the trials to come in return for lessening his other charges. when the one of the other protest inmates was being taken to their arraignment, he reported that a deputy remarked, 'so you're a fuckin' terrorist? we'll show you what we do with terrorists'. i urge everyone to support bay's release as much as they did mine. the public can't be lulled to believing that we are completely out of this particular predicament. the good news is that bay is no longer being held in the higher security tier of the panopticon bay pod and has been moved to the lower level where inmates are allowed to freely visit with each other. But the chaos that is presently going on in the San Francisco political and law enforcement milieu is sufficient to warrant increased vigilence on this for jack's safety.

I've called the DA several times. Is there anything else I can do?

please attend this wednesday at 9 am if you want to help. it's either in department 15 or 19: Jack seemed to be unsure when I asked, and as of this typing I've been unable to contact any of the people who had been volunteering legal support. Jack is the remaining protester and we're tying to get as many people as possible to attend to show public support.

jack's court date is this wednesday and we're trying to raise funds for his attorney. it has been difficult trying to find one because of the complications of his priors that the judge is threatening to take out of diversion and perhaps try jack with together. we're trying to raise $3,000 to $5,000 for this so if whatever amount people can donate would be appreciated. The Autonomous Collective has started a legal defense fund because so many of our members have been in jail recently:

Mission Area Federal Credit Union

San Francisco, CA 94103
(415) 431-2268 telephone
Account #9321

You can wire money to the account or send in a check, just make sure that folks put the account number on the check and note it is for Autonomous Collective Legal Defense

please note that it is for the Autonomous Collective and note our Account # which is 9321)

Or you can send in support to:

i just got off the phone with john viola from the national lawyers guild.

he said that its good to have people in the courtroom but not a ton of people there and that the ones who are there should take notes on who the judge is and what is said because it will happen really fast.

jack will be in department 18

jack will be going before the judge on his priors and not the protest charges tomorrow. john viola has spoken to his court-appointed public defender. jack can possibly face 2 years for his priors unless they judge chooses to maintain jack's diversion. if jack is on diversion there is a 50/50 chance that he can be RELEASED TOMORROW!! jack would then be under supervised pretrial release and the priors may get thrown out tomorrow.

jack's dad is going to be back in town tomorrow and john is going to be getting in touch with him

if jack gets on supervised pretrial release he may be on the same schedule as the other protesters and he'll have a different attorney from the one tomorrow for the protest charges...

im sad to say that ive gotten almost no info on jacks wellbeing, i was suprised that the community hasnt caused as big of an uproar as we did for you and the others. i think its very important to remember that eventhough we have nearly everyone back with us there still is one more of ours still being held. whats the situation with the lawyers. why cant anyone represent him, everyone else had someone to represent them. i hear that hes been fuct by the courts, how is he fuct, and further what kind of pressure can we give the judge besides standing up in the court room. if you ask me jack needs a fucking lawyer now and we need to find out whats really going on.
