The last protestor arrested on F16 who is still in custody, will be appearing in court tomorrow at 9 AM. It is speculated that he is being charged with offenses at the J18 anti-war march, where demonstrators attacked numerous symbols of war and capitalism, including the SF Chronicle, the British Consulate, and the INS.

San Francisco, CA
Monday, February 24
9 AM - "Broderick Harrison" appears in court, is informed that his attorney cannot be present, and is asked to reappear the following day at 9 AM. He asked that bail not be posted for him (currently set at $18,000) until after his appearance, where it may be lowered significantly. He also did not want to be bailed out before "Jack Bay", the other protestor still held in custody through today. He waved and smiled at the packed court-room, and returned to the jail.
9:30 AM - Court room packed with people in support and solidarity. Willie Brown makes special appearance, welcomed with calls from the audience "No back room deals!!!" He then continues through the court-room to the back room.
"D's" pretrial court date set as March 14th in dept. 17 at 9 am. Trial set to start on June 2nd.
Jack Bay, currently being represented by a public defender, though the NLG is working on finding a lawyer for him, appears and pleads "Not Guilty" to charges against him from the F16 protest. His bail is lowered from $25,000 to $2,500.
10:15 AM - Crowd filters outside to have post-court meeting. Another Willie Brown sighting. His time of arrival and departure suggests he was there specifically to witness or affect these political cases. Shouts from the crowd are heard: "Fuck you Willie Brown!" "Impeach that motherfucker!" "We'll have some pies waiting for you next time!" "Fuck Willie!"
Bail is posted for Jack Bay. An anonymous donor offers to pay Broderick Harrison's bail in full, but will wait until after his appearance tomorrow.

if its possible, can people post these alerts a little sooner.
It's interesting that Brown was there, and suggests a hidden agenda.
Please continue to update.
I called Hallinan's, left a long message.

if willie wanted to pressure the courts, why would he have done so in such an obvious, public way? he already praised the way the cops handled the demonstrations. his modus operandi is clearly based on working behind the scenes, as are those of most politicians.
i think it instead had something to do with the proposed closing of a local jail or court and the politics involved in that. i can't point to a source, but check the local papers to read more about it soon i'm sure.

Jack Bay, one of the protesters arrested on feb 16, remains in jail. Although his bail re. the protest arrest was signifigantly reduced (and paid), he still has a previous charge stemming from another manner and bail for that charge remains at $25000. Attempts are being made to secure a lawyer for Jack through the guild and we await news on his situation...
I have been to every major anti-war rally in San Francisco in the last year. You won't get anymore anti-war than me. I think Lantos is a lackey and Feinstein is a witch. I tend to vote Green, but I think that the Black Bloc are a bunch of out of control idiots. The protest was peaceful, why did one of those hooligans throw a brick at a police officer? Who ever heard of such idiocy of protesting war by pelting the police with bricks? Do I think that the SFPD are perfect? OF COURSE NOT. Are some of them racist? YES. Does that mean thugs can pelt bricks at police officers? NO. The Black Bloc is nothing but a punch of thug miscreants who thrive off of causing trouble and will look for trouble anywhere--INCLUDING PEACE PROTESTS.
Anyone that throws a brick at a police officer's face should not get off lightly, I think they should throw the book at that creep.

your obedience won't stop this fucking war. go ahead and march your peaceful marches, and let the world know what a wonderful democracy the USA is -- while it goes and rapes and kills millions.
what we need are 200,000 black blocers in the streets.

yeah, anyone who throws a brick at a cop is an idiot. and dont even get me started on those jews in the warsaw ghetto that took up guns against the nazi police. (sarcasim)
i use the example of the jews, not because the situation is the same, but to point out that there are cases when fighting against the law and those who enforce is is a good thing.
on the other hand i do think those of us in the breakaway march should organize our marches on another day, instead of acting like parasites to the main march. if anyone has any reason for us to be a breakaway march rather than our own march on another day, please enlighten me.

having the breakaway marches on the same day is not being "parasitic". what if we did organize a militant demo that was stressing our "autonomy from the laws and the lawmakers that perpetuate war and poverty" (from callout for f16), and then some legalists decided to have a permitted anti-war protest the same day? the point is that is stresses diversity of tactics. a demonstration is only a demonstration. to stop this war, there will have to be much more work done not at demonstrations. demonstrations are basically a show of force: look how many of us there are that are organizing against the war. if we start trying to be separatists based on our tactics, then we lose the strength of the fact that everyone against the war has the right and the ability to be out there on the same day, demonstrating in whatever ways they think are effective. if these were "non-violence" demonstrations and not anti-war demonstrations, there might be a point. then a breakaway march would be more of a counter-protest and less of a different form of protest in solidarity with everyone else in the streets. these are anti-war protests. not peace protests, and not non-violence protests. we should have the maturity to be able to respect each others' tactics, get each others' backs, etc. ANSWER, who has been one of the main organizers for these large demonstrations, certainly does not believe in non-violence; they support maniac dictators. if the liberal-peaceniks want to organize a "non-violence" demonstration, then they should go ahead. but especially if most people are being led around by a bunch of stalinist fucks, this should not even be a topic of discussion.
sorry for rambling. i know theres a lot of confused muddled ideas there, but i hope people get something out of what i'm saying. maybe someone else can take off from where i started and make a more concise, coherent arguement.

i visited jack today. it's the first of march and still he hasn't a clue who his lawyer is. i've contacted the national lawyers guild and midnight special law collective. it was my original intention that i not be released until bay has been released. i appreciate the acts of my friends and supporters but the fact is that as it stands the solidarity we had has been dissolved and i fear for jack's safety. when i was in f pod i and another inmate protester witnessed the 5 of the deputy sheriffs assaulting jack. they were throwing him against a wall and i heard jack scream. one of the deputys involved in this i wrote down and will post later as soon as i find the scrap of paper i scribbled it down on. jack was later sent to the psych ward at san francisco general. this is the sort of shit that goes down in deputy greg suhr's regime and im glad to see that his ass got indicited. he was the supposed author of a prison rule book that i got to read when i was shipped to b pod. nothing is more frightening than being the target of deputy terrorism inside with no support. its my belief that someone from homeland security will try to get jack to make up something in the trials to come in return for lessening his other charges. when the one of the other protest inmates was being taken to their arraignment, he reported that a deputy remarked, 'so you're a fuckin' terrorist? we'll show you what we do with terrorists'. i urge everyone to support bay's release as much as they did mine. the public can't be lulled to believing that we are completely out of this particular predicament. the good news is that bay is no longer being held in the higher security tier of the panopticon bay pod and has been moved to the lower level where inmates are allowed to freely visit with each other. But the chaos that is presently going on in the San Francisco political and law enforcement milieu is sufficient to warrant increased vigilence on this for jack's safety.
