Interview With Abla Saadat. October 10th 2002. Ramallah, Palestine.

Question:

What role does she think the Intifada and the Palestinian revolution play in the world front against capitalism?

Abla Sada'at:

For the Palestinian society there are a lot of positive roles. The Intifada is the only representative of the Palestinian people. It is the political parties that fight the occupation and not the Palestinian Authority. It is parties such as the PFLP that have built the Intifada within Palestine. There are many different parties through out Palestine, all are working towards the end of occupation, but the methods are different. The aim of the PFLP is to defend our country, our rights and our lives against occupation. After all, they took our country with power, now it's time to take it back.

Question:

What is the relationship between the political parties in Palestine?

Abla Sada'at:

We all have one aim that is to defend our country against the occupation. We are a Marxist organization that strives to protect the proletariat of Palestine. We stand side by side, in solidarity with the workers of Palestine to bring about the revolution, which will destroy the occupation.

It is the working classes that have been most affected by the occupation, the bourgeoisie are not as comfortable as they once were but they still have their homes, they still have money and food on the table, while the working classes have nothing left.

We believe that the people of Palestine should work together as a team to establish Palestine as a Marxist state. For example, Fateh is not one solid organization but is made up of many separated factions.

In the seventies and eighties, there were a lot of academic and professional people that were active Marxists, now their only concern is the protection of their land and money. Their only interest is sustaining and defending the capitalist system.


Question:
What part does Western imperialism play in the Middle East, especially concerning Iraq and Palestine?

Abla Sada'at:

The basic role of Western Imperialism is to oppress the working classes of the Arab world. Their aim is to control the vital resources in the Middle East, especially where Iraq, Palestine and Afghanistan are concerned. They will not cease this endless until they have full control over the Middle East. Look at this farce that is being played out in front of eyes at the moment, the claim that Saddam Hussein has nuclear weapons. It has nothing to do with nuclear weapons.

Saddam Hussein is the strongest power in the Middle East, he stands up against the imperialism in the West, plus he poses a threat to Israel. Both Britain and the US have strong trade links with Israel that would be harmed if Iraq decided to attack Israel.


Question:

How relevant is Marxist-Leninism in todays struggle against Imperialism?

Abla Sada'at:

I believe that Marxist-Leninism is very important. The basic truth is that Marxism poses a threat to international capitalism. They are afraid because Marxism works! It worked in Russia, it worked in Cuba. That is why all the imperialist powers are working to destroy Marxist-Leninist groups, because they are aware that Marxism is stronger than ever.

Question:

How is the situation with your husband, Ahmed Saadat?

Abla Sada'at:

From the social point of view, he is very comfortable with his inmates. He is kept under extremely strict security by the British and American, and unofficially, the Israeli authorities. They live in constant fear of being beaten, tortured and murdered.

It is the Palestinian Authority, America and Israel that places them in prison, whether they have carried out a crime or not. They are working together, their aim is to totally destroy and undermine the people of the PFLP.
