Local DJ Needs Help

by counter terrorism task force
"KJ" is a much-loved local DJ and electronic music pioneer, and he needs your help. He has been called to report to the INS as part of America's response to terrorism. He now faces deportation unless he is granted political asylum. If he is deported to Pakistan, he faces certain persecution, as a gay Hindu.
Please send an email or letter by Feb. 24th, to show your support for KJ. Feel free to add to the letter or write your own. And please pass this on to as many people as possible. He has given so much to the San Francisco music community, and now he needs your show of support. San Francisco needs Keshav Jiwnani to stay here.

In Pakistan, homosexuality is illegal, punishable with life in prison and corporal punishment of 100 lashes, while Islamic law, which also can be enforced legally, calls for up to 100 lashes or death by stoning (from a report by an international human rights commission about homosexuality in Pakistan).

SAMPLE LETTER:

Please do not deport this Hindu gay man to Moslem Pakistan, where he will face certain persecution and danger for his life.

Keshav Jiwnani is a productive and peaceful member of the San Francisco community. He has lived in the United States for 17 years. As a gay teenager, Keshav fled his native Pakistan for the freedom of the United States. Since then, he has contributed greatly to the artistic, cultural, and economic character of not just San Francisco, but the entire country. He has helped form several small businesses, which have contributed to the local economy. He has been instrumental in the music industry, both as an artist and as a leader in the entertainment world, earning the respect and admiration of music fans everywhere. Pakistan is well known for its life-threatening violations of human rights against gay people and the Hindu religious minority. Please do not detain or deport Keshav Jiwnani. He deserves political asylum and U.S. citizenship.
