the one woman doesn't look scared. no opinion on the one man's expression. can't see anybody else. so the picture in no way answers the title question, which implies that reports of onlookers being scared is not true. i bet that some were and some weren't. probably those that were in the vicinity of windows being broken and cops being taunted were scared, while those who only witnessed positive chanting and smiling marchers were not.
They were throwing rocks at horses! How could they do that!? Throwing rocks AT HORSES? Sure, they're pig horses, and should be made into tartare or foie gras or something, but THROWING ROCKS AT HORSES!?!
WHERE IS THE JUSTICE FOR THE HORSIES!?!?!?!?

they are as much victims of the cops as everyone else is. I felt really bad for the horses-- they looked terrified. There is something very disturbing about cops using animals to do their dirty work... talk about animal cruelty.
I didn't see anyone throw rocks at the horses, but no doubt they were caught in the crossfire. I would guess the rocks were meant for the cops-- not to say that that is OK. I'm a big fan of no violence, myself.

I'm sorry.. who threw rocks at the horses? On the 16 photo entries and 13 video entries, could you please point out to me one rock thrown at a horse?
I was there when the horses rushed. The word was spread to "be careful of the horses! don't hit the horses!" The protestors chanted, "Free the horses!"
The cops ran the horses into each other and into other cops. Personally, I think those horses looked terrified. They kept pooping everytime the cops would try to pull some "rush the crowd" trick with them.
