Letter to the Member Nations of the UN Security Council

by galen
A plea to the UN Security Council not to capitulate to the demands of the United States Government (USG).
Monday, February 17, 2003

Member Nations of the United Nations Security Council:

I am writing you today in a matter of the utmost importance and urgency. As a citizen of the United States of America (USA), i implore you not to capitulate to the demands of the United States Government (USG) and authorize a preemptive attack on the sovereign Nation of Iraq.

There is absolutely no reason for the USG to invade Iraq other than to satisfy its lust for power. Control of the "oil assets" of the Middle East has been a long-stated objective of the current ruling junta. The clearly articulated policy of the USG to use the threat of a preemptive first strike, including "cute nukes", to ensure that it maintains its status as sole global Superpower is an egregious violate of the Nuremberg Charter and International Law, and poses an imminent threat to all of Humanity.

Do not be swayed by the rhetoric, obfuscation, deception, and badgering of the Bush regime. It is not the obligation of the United Nation to appease Bush in his relentless campaign of global conquest; on the contrary, it is your obligation to confront USG imperialism and hegemony.

UN Weapons Inspectors have not found Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq. However, they would not have a problem locating massive stockpiles of such weapons within the borders of the USA and aboard the numerous ships and aircraft of the USG that prowl the world's oceans and skyways, threatening any nation that would challenge USG dictates with swift retaliation and sure obliteration.

If the United Nations does not stand up to this illegal, unethical, dangerous, and barbaric USG preemptive attack on the People of Iraq and the subsequent looting of that country's "oil assets", the UN will have failed to fulfill its charter. I beseech you to find common cause with the 11 million people around the world who took to the streets this past weekend in opposing this foolish adventure.

Not only is Peace possible, it is - now, more than ever - imperative.

Respectfully yours,
