KRON Web Cams not working or blocked out?

by Ryan M. Ferris (rferris [at] rmfdevelopment.com)
SFgate and Kron TV web cams not working for the peace rally..

Curiously, the bright path web site (mirrored on indybay.org) cam of the anti-war rally (a local street level shot) is outperforming KRON4 web cams, three of six of which seem to be blocked out as o f 1:15 PM Sunday (Feb 16th).- Van Ness Ave, Embarcadero Skydeck, Bay Bridge Toll Plaza. I was enjoying decent views from the Bay Bridge Toll Plaza sky cam (which looked like it was focused on Market Street -see attachment), seeing lots of people marching, and then I e-mailed KRON to complain about the other two down cameras and now the Bay Bridge Toll Plaza camera is blocked out. Since these are also used as the sfgate cameras, it is difficult to get a good aerial view of the rally. Their other cameras are working quite fine:

I've attached one picture from an early shot. At one point I was seeing a completely full street. It seems a little incongruous that they would both request rally pictures:

and not have working web cams. Perhaps the cameras can't handle the constant movement.

I noticed that KRON is asking for digital pictures "so we can include [them] on our site." However, they are no where to be found. Has anyone found them? Perhaps they are handing them over to TIPS.

here was the answer from pictures [at] kron.com:

"That was actually our helicopter feed being routed through the same microwave signal that brings us the pictures from the Bay Bridge. The helicopter isn't sending us a feed right now, it's just getting video."
