2/14 25,000 Rally in Japan for Peace

by Peacenik
On 2/14/03, 25,000 marched for peace in Japan, including victims of US weapons of mass destruction, the survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, August 6 and 9, 1945, respectively, when the US committed this racist and unnecessary act as Japan was already suing for peace, to warn the Russians, who were poised to attack Japan, that the 20th Century was to be the American Century. It never was and no century every will be. We do not need an American Century; we need international peace.

Labor unions were also major participants in this peace march. Labor Net Japan has an excellent story with photos at:

There was a peace march on the evening of Feb. in Shibuya of Central Tokyo. Well over a thousand people, young and old, Japanese and foreigners were in attendance. The Communist party newspaper reported 5,000 participants. The mood was jovial despite the impending catastrophe of war and onlookers seemed sympathetic (smiles and thumbs up) to the NO WAR message!
