There is a Satan.
For a non religious person, I now realize it is in full control of the apparatus of our country. We are heading straight into hell from our beloved garden as the tide of mammon and hate overwhelm the sensible humans in this world to harald a dark age.
Areas of our world contaminated with DU for 4.5 billion years while other
regions where forests that contain the life and lungs of our world are being turned into another Sahara as they are being burnt or cut down for a quick profit. War,torture and desperation ride on the chariots of madness.
We have been told that power is strength, wealth is worth and might equals right. In our foolishness many of us have been led by the sugar and chrome into a dante’s inferno where our children will never know
the security of a night sleeping in peace and warmth.
Our food, air and water are now in the hands of entities which see these
common elements of our human heritage as sources of profit power and
control.
The very elements of life are now being engineered to be used as weapons to bring death in the form of biological terror and population
management.
And for what?
So that infants in adult bodies can possess more than they already have
in order to have more than other infants in adult bodies who have more than they could ever enjoy. All at the expense of the vast human family these entities have abandoned.
The dark joke is that even in their gated estates they will also suffer the loss of a world that could have been a paradise of brotherhood and care.
Welcome to hell.

>There is a Satan.
For a non religious person, ....

Oh, goody. A non-religious person claiming they have any concept of Satan or Hell. Nothing new here. Various visions appear here and call themselves "truth". The biggest difference is they have never nor will they ever wear the name "Legion", though they say they do.
by Sheepdog
aniskull.gif
Of course it's not new.
And that's the crime. Your point, PM?
by pm
You either have the ability to understand the point I made in my previous post or you don't. So far, you don't.
by Sheepdog
Truth by it's very nature is a personal experience.
Your view of it is beyond my control.
You can find your own truth or you can call mine false.
I really don't care except for the fact that I am
compelled to state what I see as my own truth of a world
going into darkness and perhaps try to paint the fear I see
in the eyes of my fellow humans for examination and perhaps
understanding. What you do with it is your free choice.
You can turn your back or ridicule it. It's all a matter of
free will. If I am alone, so be it; I am not ashamed.
by pm
You still don't get it. You have chosen not to.

Just like Jesus Christ spoke in parables to confound those who did not want to know the truth, so I speak to you and others like you. You have shut your ears, and will not listen to the truth, because you are a liar, and the truth is not in you.

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.
by Sheepdog
So now we understand each other.
At least as much as I care to.
Have a nice day.

quasi-religous justification bullshit. 'never wore legion'... bah. fuck that shit. I have no idea what you're talking about, nor do i care to, just so much more bullshit. Bet dollars to donuts the original crusaders were all about your legion bullshit, and what good did that do?

This war is crap. Our administration is nothing but liars, crooks, and now MURDERERS and they do it all in our name and the name of god, for the sake of profit. Just thinking about it makes me want to puke.

I know who they bow to and i will have no part in it. Its all just one big perpetual cycle and none of our "leaders" are big enough to break the chain because they benefit from it and at no time does it ever place them in any danger at all.

Did they shut down la.imc? Must have been getting a little too real for them there... whats up sheepdog
by Sheepdog
Kill radio is also out.
Oh well lets party over HERE!
by pm
"I have no idea what you're talking about, nor do i care to, just so much more bullshit."

I'm talking about the truth. That you don't understand it, nor care to, is not a surprise. You are a liar, and the truth is not in you.

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

While the lips move and the busy fingers type.
While the world grows darker as the 'lambs' are led
to the dinner plate or the cover of a car seat.
I've read the bible a few times and it is an amusing
piece of bloody fiction feeding my belief that the ones who dwell in the house of the lord who think they own the truth
are pimps and
whores when they aren't screwing someone in the name of
mammon.

Each of us have to make our own choices about tactics, but I wanted to share my strong feelings that tonight's convergence at Powell and Market will be most effective if our resistance to the war models the peaceful world we're working for. The corporate media is only too eager to marginalize us and ignore our message, and I think smashing a bunch of windows of stores downtown is only doing them (and the Bush Administration) a big favor by making it easier to dismiss our message. The same set of fascist bastards in the Pentagon who have planned this war for years have also talked about invading Syria, Iran, and other countries. I fear we are in for the long haul, and like it or not, I fear that we need to attract support and sympathy from mainstream America to stop the war machine. I'm so pissed I could scream, but while smashing a window downtown would feel good to me, I don't think it's the best way to help people who are oppressed by our government here at home and around the world. See you tonight. Peace.
by pm
"....an amusing piece of bloody fiction ...."

You have in that one statement alone cast down any moral authority you hoped to have in your futile attempt to pursuade others. You are a liar, and the truth is not in you. But you are not alone, for there are others here who believe as you do, and who share your fate. You lay your treasure upon the Earth. In that, you have sealed your own defeat. Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon the Earth, where moth and rust consume, and where thieves break through and steal.

He that hath ears to hear, let him hear.

No. They're just incompetent like you are.

Wednesday, March 19, 2003 KUWAIT CITY — Seventeen Iraqis surrendered to American troops on the Iraqi-Kuwaiti border on Wednesday, Fox News has learned. Capt. Darren Theriault of the headquarters company of the U.S. Army's 1st Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division told journalists accompanying his unit that the Iraqis had been turned over to Kuwaiti custody.

Rob, you said it well - Thank you! I agree 100%.
I know there are other points of view out there, and I agree somewhat with some of those views, but I strongly feel that our message gets across much, much better when there is no violence.

Our message will especially get across even better when the ONLY violence out there is coming from law enforcement!! Let THEM look bad - they're good at that!

To some others posting here - I came in the middle of all this, but what the heck is going on here?! "Liar, liar, truth, blah, blah, more truth, more lies, f@#% you..., etc, etc." Geez, can't we all agree to disagree?! What happened to respect? Please stop pushing others' buttons, that certainly won't help ANY cause. I'm not sure if we're all on the same page here, but we really need to respect and support each other in these very troubling times - PLEASE.

Much Peace & Love in the Streets - I'll see you there, Sisters & Brothers!

On Monday night, President Bush gave a brilliant, factual and logical explanation for why we are about to go to war in Iraq.

I know that among the liberal community it is not "in" to support our president. I know how many of the limousine liberals long for the prince of perversion, Bill Clinton. But after listening to President Bush's speech, I am really proud that I voted for him, and I am glad that he is our commander in chief.

I am not your typical Republican. In fact, until Bill and Hillary Clinton came on the national scene, I was a Democrat. But I carefully followed the Clinton administration, and I have no problem saying that this guy Clinton raped the American people and belongs in prison.

If anything, the Bush administration has been too lenient in not investigating the abuses of power during the Clinton administration. The lawbreaking surrounding the slew of Clinton pardons alone is enough to land him in prison for a hundred years!

Just read the late Barbara Olson's book "The Final Days," which details the abuse of power and blatant corruption surrounding the Clinton pardons.

I am nauseated when I see actors, rock stars and other limousine liberals attacking our president, as they imply that Saddam Hussein is a victim of an unjust American form of aggression.

I don't mean to rain on Susan Sarandon or Martin Sheen's parade, but please allow me to quote from an op-ed piece in the L.A. Times of Monday, March 17, 2003. In her article, Esra Naama, an Iraqi refugee, says that stars who decry action against Hussein prolong the abuse of a people.

George W. Bush is probably the greatest president since Harry Truman. He has the courage to follow through on the right course, and he is not swayed by the spineless countries of this world (i.e., France) that put oil contracts ahead of the sanctity of human life. I voted for George Bush because he represents my point of view on just about everything, from the death penalty to abortion, from national defense to economic reform and self-reliance.

Saddam Hussein is a brutal dictator who has flaunted all forms of international law during the past 12 years. While people in this country are lighting candles, Saddam Hussein has been engaged in the genocide of his own people, barbaric torture and rape of thousands of women, and has amassed arsenals of nerve gas, chemical weapons and nuclear weapons. These are not just allegations; they are documented facts.

Says Esra Naama in the L.A. Times:

"I am a refugee from Saddam Hussein's Iraq. When Martin Sheen, Tim Robbins, Susan Sarandon, and Barbra Streisand speak about the Iraqi people, they are not speaking about people like me, who are Shiite Muslims – the largest religious group in Iraq that is nonetheless forced to live as second-class citizens under the Sunni regime of Hussein and his Baath Party. ...

"When I was 10, I fled Iraq with my mother and four siblings after the failure of the 1991 uprising against Hussein. ... At that time, we believed that the coalition forces would come to our aid. But within a few days, Hussein brutally crushed us. In the months that followed, tens of thousands of my fellow Shiite Muslims were executed. Entire families were killed. Bodies were left to hang on trees and men were tortured in public. These are the scenes that I relive in my nightmares."

Luckily, Esra Naama and her family escaped to the freedom of the United States, but many of her fellow Iraqis were exterminated by the despot Saddam Hussein.

Naama concludes:

"I am an American now, and I have been educated to respect the right to free expression by any citizen, a right no member of my family enjoyed when we lived in Iraq. I know from personal experience that the Hollywood actors who decry action against Hussein are really opposing the liberation of the Iraqi people. I wish they would praise the American troops in the field or just stay silent."

These are the words of an Iraqi who has lived under the tyranny of Saddam Hussein. Mr. Sheen, do you remember the extermination camps of Hitler in World War II? Susan Sarandon, do you remember when American GIs liberated those about to join the millions who had already died in Auschwitz, Dachau and Bergen-Belsen?

Well, Saddam Hussein is as bad as Hitler! As we are on the verge of war, I pray daily for the well-being and safety of our fighting men and women who are risking their lives for the freedom of those like Susan Sarandon, Janeane Garafolo and Martin Sheen.

I only wish these Hollywood stars cared as much about our own children, our own mothers and fathers, our cousins, nieces and nephews, as they care about the Iraqi people!

Never have I been prouder to be an American than I am tonight! God bless President Bush!

Any discussion forum that proposes to have some chance of collectively changing our shared reality for universal benefit should be using some form of filtering like Slashdot moderation and meta-moderation instead of just removing "offensive" and/or "divisive" posts. I have heard that you can view "hidden" posts on this site, but you have to hack the url because there aren't any useable links on the comments page to view these filtered messages.

I would consider myself a young, well-educated lefty who has a strong enough mind to critically evaluate anything I come across, and I resent not being able to judge for myself whether something is truthful or not. If it's a troll post, just allow democratic moderation to sort it to a level below the general viewer's default threshold.

So far I have been disheartened to find that the prevailing philosophy on indymedia.org seems to have authoritarian leanings. I am not really interested in participating in a movement which is ordered by those who oppress views or refuse to engage in political discourse with those who are considered too right wing. The only way any of our common problems are going to be solved is to sacrifice the ego.

There is a poster on another thread, Daniel Burton, who made the point that the black bloc and other anarchists and the anti-war movement need to be putting out a positive message now. The reality imposed on us consists of false dichotomies, i.e. good vs. evil, creator vs. created, pro- vs. anti- and everything is defined by opposites or absences. Thus, the subject and the object, observer and observed become separate.

On 9/11, people in America experienced what those in power have been inflicting on the helpless, but after a period of shock, the old eye-for-an-eye doctrine took over. However, the technology of communication is wiring together the neurons of the global consciousness and bringing about the realization that we are all part of reality. There is no creator outside of our context. Everything in existence is intricately tied up in the fabric of the space-time continuum. Life is a complex vessel of information which depends on the collectivity of its tissues, cells, and molecules. Society and civilisation bring ideas and beliefs that further organize life. We need to use communication technology to create a better society.
