San Francisco Bay Area Italians Against the War
Anti war events in front the Italian Cosulate fo San Francisco to protest Italian Prime Minister policy

On Sunday morning, February 16, a group of Italian citizens living in the Bay Area will gather in front of the Italian consulate in San Francisco to express their opposition to the Italian government's support of a U.S.-led war in Iraq.
We will be accompanied by American friends interested in Italian society and politics, who share our strong disagreement with the Berlusconi government's pro-war position.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. at 2590 Webster Street (@ Broadway), the building which serves both as the consulate and the consular residence. The consul general has been informed about the demonstration, and will report on it to the home office in Rome.
We are planning this action to make it clear that Italy's "official" endorsement of the war goes against majority public opinion in Italy.
According to recent polls, the vast majority of Italians are strongly opposed. Last December an estimated 450,000 people participated in a mass antiwar march and rally in Florence. Similar protests have taken place, and more will be held in Italy's major cities on February 15.
We want to let people in the Bay Area and elsewhere in the U.S. know that, just as George W. Bush does not represent the majority opinion or the best
interests of citizens here in the U.S., Berlusconi does not speak for us.
We are joining with millions of our compatriots who say "NO" to President Bush and to the warmakers in Washington.
After our peaceful, nonviolent gathering, many of us will join the mass march and rally scheduled to start off from Justin Herman Plaza at 11 a.m.

don't buy what this guy is telling you....berlusconi is a (small, ah-ah!!) dictator who doesn't have anu clue of what he's doing. Thanks god, french, germans, belgians, and russians are the only ones in europe who still think with their mind. DON'T boicott french products, boicott the fuck'in italians, brits, spanish, canadians, and (yes!) US americans.

Guerra alla guerra
Fu questo il titolo di un manifesto dei giovani socialisti pubblicato per la guerra di Libia del 1911. Ripreso anche nel1920, come denunzia classista e come problema di riscatto sociale,in una omonima raccolta di poesie, dallo sconosciuto ed isolato poeta della periferia salentina, Giuseppe Susanna di Galatone (1851-1929). Riacquista oggi la più viva attualità, se usato senza tentazioni retoriche, ed assunto come habitus mentale,come costante di vita.
In questa guerra del terzo millennio, la determinazione di vendicare le vittime dell'11 settembre e l'urgenza legittima di annientare il terrorismo globale che tutti ed ovunque ci minaccia, si stanno traducendo nello sradicamento di vaste etnie e nel massacro sistematico di popolazioni inermi e infelici.
Una logica tesa a pareggiare il conto fra morti americani e morti afghani.
Quanto di cristiano si può trovare in questo puntiglioso, scientifico, devastante occhio per occhio, dente per dente?
Come diceva Rolland, tutti abbiamo una parte nel flagello di oggi, chi per intenzionalità, chi per debolezza, e non è certo la debolezza la meno colpevole. Perciò, ciascuno, per quanto può, deve contribuire a screditare la guerra, lavorare per la costruzione della pace,in modo che nessuno, e per nessuna ragione, possa più volere la guerra senza arrossire.
Spesso la guerra si traveste di pace, indossa il saio dell'antico, astuto si vis pacem para bellum, per perseguire ben noti programmi di espansionismo e di arricchimento. Arruola persino gli ingenui, coloro che mai la farebbero se ne intuissero i retroscena,li adesca con la malafede. Smascheriamo questi travestimenti. Mediante un deciso "guerra alla guerra" a tutte le ipocrisie e le menzogne che le sono connesse.
