Total Information Awareness/Patriot Act II

by justicescholar
Someone leaked the existence of Patriot Act II and Bill Moyers discussed it on his show NOW last night. Today, I also found out about the original but short-lived Total Information Awareness website. The ACLU copied the graphic before the government hid it in shame. Their aims were so apparent. This whole scenario gets more surreal as time goes on.

for the report on the proposed Patriot Act II, go to:

For those who are allergic to clicking links, highlights follow:

Citizens can be stripped of their citizenship and deported if the government decides that they are acting in a way so as not to comport with how a "citizen" acts. Yes, even native born citizens. It happens to naturalized citizens now.

Patriot Act II authorizes "secret" arrests. This means that YOU might be whisked away in the middle of the night and your loved ones would never know where you went.

Section 312, “Appropriate Remedies with Respect to Law Enforcement Surveillance Activities”: This section would terminate all state law enforcement consent decrees before Sept. 11, 2001, not related to racial profiling or other civil rights violations, that limit such agencies from gathering information about individuals and organizations. The authors of this statute claim that these consent orders, which were passed as a result of police spying abuses, could impede current terrorism investigations. It would also place substantial restrictions on future court injunctions.

etcetera, etcetera, etcetera...
