Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly Threatens Physical Assault On and Ejects a 9/11 Family

by repost
NION and O'Reilly - not a good combo . . . this press release was posted on whatreallyhappened.com.
2/6/03 Not in our Name on O'Reilly Latest report is that on the next day's show, when Jeremy M. Glick made an appearance, O'Reilly wound up threatening him. Here is the NOIN release.

2-6-03: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly Threatens Physical Assault On and Ejects a 9/11 Family Member From His Show

On February 4th, during a live interview on the Fox News program “The O’Reilly Factor,” media personality Bill O’Reilly verbally attacked Jeremy M. Glick, a signer of the Not In Our Name “Statement of Conscience” whose father was killed in the World Trade Center on 9/11. Bill O’Reilly has referred to the signers of the Statement as “anti-American” and has said they should be “held accountable” for the expression of their dissenting opinion. After cutting short the interview Bill O’Reilly threatened Mr. Glick, a professor at Rutgers University and teacher in the state prisons system, with physical violence.

The following day, Bill O’Reilly continued his attacks on Mr. Glick by falsely claiming that Mr. Glick “was out of control and spewing hatred.” The transcript from “The O’Reilly Factor” itself shows that these statements are wrong. What Mr. Glick said was “Why would I want to further brutalize and punish the people of Afghanistan…” “The people of Afghanistan … didn’t kill my father,” and the CIA “…that trained a hundred thousand Mujahedeen” bore some responsibility. Mr. Glick remained calm, focused and dignified throughout the entire show. The video shows it was Bill O’Reilly that lost his composure. After the interview he told Mr. Glick to “Get out, get out of my studio before I tear you to f**king pieces!”

Mr. Glick was invited to the Fox News show after the January 27th appearance of Miles Solay, a NION Project spokesperson. Solay’s interview was prompted by that day’s publication in the New York Times of the Statement of Conscience, which has been signed by over 50,000 Americans, including Howard Zinn, Susan Sarandon, Edward Asner, Martin Sheen and Cornel West, to name a few noteworthy signers. The Statement, which Le Monde called the “sacred text of the anti-war movement,” has been published in over 40 journals and newspapers across the US, and 7 countries internationally.

On the 1/27 show, Bill O’Reilly challenged Mr. Solay that “Nobody signed this from September 11th.” Mr. Solay pointed out that Jeremy M. Glick, among others who had suffered family loss on 9/11, had signed the Statement. Mr. Glick accepted an invitation to the show to explain why he had signed a document that reads in part: “We believe that people of conscience must take responsibility for what their own governments do.” During the interview Mr. Glick endured verbal barrages like, “…I don’t really care what you think,” “…so you keep you mouth shut,” and “Shut up. Shut up. Shut up.”

Bill O’Reilly’s “literal ’cutting’ of Mr. Glick’s speech is consistent with the current administration’s ‘watch what you say’ policy of intimidation,” says an organizer with the Not In Our Name Project (NION). The NION Project, an effort that shares the politics of the Statement of Conscience, is organizing mass resistance against the government’s global war campaign, attacks on civil liberties, and detentions and roundups of immigrants. The group has turned out hundreds of thousands of people around the world since October 6, 2002 to protest and take the “Pledge of Resistance,” which includes: “We pledge alliance with those who have come under attack for voicing opposition to the war…” NION plans to actively participate in the worldwide protests against the war on February 15th, in New York City.

Despite his recent statements such as “I like a robust debate” and “dissent is good,” Bill O’Reilly’s verbal attacks and abrupt ending of the program by cutting off Mr. Glick’s microphone demonstrated otherwise. Several members of the show’s staff apologized to Mr. Glick, and expressed concern for his personal safety, stating that there might be a “situation” if he and the host were to meet face to face. A NION organizer stated, “We stand with Mr. Glick in fighting the encroaching climate of hostility toward people who oppose ‘a war that will last a generation’. This is an example of a political attempt to terrorize dissent.”

O'Reilly's actions suggest that he knows the mainstream media is losing the war for the minds of America.

Is there an official "Boycott O'Reilly" web site? If not, send in a list of his sponsors and we'll set up one at the new site.

oreilly signed a $24 million contract with fox news to spew his one sided barrage against arabs. this on behalf of the israeli government. you see the owner of fox's parent, rupert murdocch, is a close personal friend of ariel sharon and his wife is a fanatical zionist. oreilly knows that murdoch - a billionaire - will shovel out big bucks for effective propagandists for israel. this is creating copycats who want their millions playing the same game like sean hannity

Jeremy M. Glick was interviewed last night on KPFK's "Innervision" show with Michael Benner. He's on for the full hour, and it provides opportunity to understand where he's coming from. One of the striking "take-away" points from the interview is Mr. Glick's understanding of the power that comes from moral clarity when dealing with simple facts of history, such as the fact that the U.S. was a major force in actually furthering fanatical Islam, something that Bill O'Reilly simply couldn't deal with. Glick didn't lose his cool. He just stuck to basic facts. That, combined with the fact that his father perished in the WTC instilled violent cognitive dissonance in Bill O'Reilly's mind.

It'b be great if someone could post the audio of that show (preferably mp3 format).

Thanks!
If there are any witnesses to O'Reilly's physical threat then Jeremy M. Glick can and should press charges against O'Reilly. In addition a civil suit should be started for big bucks.

Subpoena anybody there who heard the threat.

The publicity would be fantastic.

There are numerous criminal charges that could be made against O'Reilly. Such as:

Terroristic threatening.
Menacing.
Assault. (a threat is assault. Assault and battery is when physical contact occurs).
Disorderly conduct.
Etc..

Also, it is legal to kick someone's ass if one is threatened, feels imminent danger, and can't easily get away.

If all the above applies, then kick O'Reilly's wimpy ass!

I saw the tape on CNN. This happened once before, and he was fined $50k. So probably this will have some repurcusions, too.

Bill is a phony butt licker. He did not serve in the military during the Viet Nam war. In fact, Mr. Bill dodged the draft with student deferments.

He has no compunction to sending young men and women to their deaths in Iraq since his wealth and power will mean none of his kids will ever have to die for America and the likes of Bill.

Everyone send him an e-mail asking him to explain why he did not serve when the country was at war for ten years in Nam.

Do not hold your breath waiting for his answer.
by Hypocraties
Hypocrit and war-monger Bill O'Reilly is exactly as you say Whiskey . Punk would have the poor and brave die for him while he hid out, never taking an anti-war stance over Viet Nam, but never serving that which he preports to believe in . The true name for this person is COWARD

What a CHUMP
by Mr. Toad
Let me get this straight:
So, it's ok to destroy the property of others in San Francisco if things aren't going your way? It's ok to take up residence in someone else's trees to stop them from doing what they want with their own property (or property to which they have a license from the owner to develop or engage in perfectly legal logging activities)? It's ok to threaten the safety and livelihoods of others because they don't agree with your "greater good" theories? It's ok to risk the lives of perhaps hundreds of thousands of American citizens because you just don't condone fighting, even if it's for the freedom and security of others who cannot provide for themselves??? And some of you even equate the actions and policies of the United States with those of Stalin's Russia, Bush with Hitler, and Rumsfeld with Goering?????
But let one somewhat conservative talk show host get angry at a do-nothing, illogical, emotional basket-case of a college professor, and suddenly there should be criminal charges????

Brilliant. Get a grip.

JEREMY BARRY GLICK : A MODERN DAY HERO (O'REILLY VIDEO)

JEREMY YOUR FATHER WOULD BE PROUD!

: A TALE of THREE GLICKS

: HOW MANY GLICKS WERE THERE?

: There were THREE Glicks killed on 911.

: Not one ,not two ,but three Glicks.

: A mindboggling amazing tragic coincidence.

: One of them was 31-year-old Jeremy Glick Superhero of United
: Airlines Flight 93, by rushing their hijackers before their
: plane nosedived into a Pennsylvania field—killing all on
: board, and by thus maybe saved the White House- the middle
: son of Joan and Lloyd Glick of Hewitt, N.J.

: htp://http://www.jeremysheros.org

: The OTHER GLICK was not as celebrated as the first Glick. You
: probably would never have heard of him had it not been for
: the brave heart of his son Jeremy and none other than the
: epitome of Arrogance second only to Donald Rumsfeld, the
: vile mean spiritidness and self rightiousness of the
: Supreme NoSPinhead Himself, Master BILL O'REILLY.

: Bless your dear heart Mr. O.

: The other Glick was Barry Hugh. Glick of Wayne, N.J.

: A Port Authority Manager With Dancing Feet

: The dance floor was marked territory for Barry and Judy Glick
: of Wayne, N.J.

: Len Jacob remembered Glick and his wife doing the lindy, after
: a few swing dance lessons, at his son's wedding reception
: at a restaurant in Manhattan two years ago while he and his
: guests enjoyed it passively."He and Judy really
: conveyed that they were having a wonderful time out
: there," he said. "And the guests had a wonderful
: time watching them."Glick would usually be the one to
: initiate the horah, a religious circle dance, at bar
: mitzvahs or other Jewish functions, his daughter, Jean
: Neufeld, said.

: "My dad always had a huge smile, and he'd be clapping or
: dancing," she said. "He wasn't someone who hung
: back."During his lunch breaks, Glick would seek out
: strangers and offer them help if he thought they looked
: lost, his daughter said.

: "My father was always interested in helping random
: people," Neufeld said. "His friends would make
: fun of him because he would approach tourists that looked
: lost and ask them if they needed help."A risk manager
: in the treasury department of the Port Authority, Glick,
: 55, is presumed dead in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.
: He spoke to his wife that morning after the attacks and
: told her that he was waiting in his office on the 64th
: floor of Tower One for the fire department to find him,
: Neufeld said.Born in 1945 in New Jersey, Glick graduated
: from Eastside High School in Paterson, N.J., in 1963, and
: from Randolph- Macon College in Ashland, Va., with a
: bachelor's degree in political science in 1968. He married
: a year before and began working in insurance soon after
: graduation, his daughter said. Academic success was always
: paramount in the Glick household, Neufeld said. She
: remembered a daunting assignment in grammar school,
: procrastinating for as long as she could.

: "I was writing this paper, and it just seemed like this
: humongous thing," she said. "My father kept
: making me do it. He probably did more of the work than I
: did so I could finish it on time."Neufeld, whose
: pregnancy is in its final trimester, is sad that her unborn
: child will never know her father. "This would have
: been his first grandchild," she said.

: In addition to his wife and daughter, Glick is survived by his
: mother, Matilda Glick of Delray Beach, Fla., and a son,
: Jeremy of New Brunswick, N.J.

: Barry H Glick was also anti Bush most likely anti zionist and
: so is his son Jeremy.

: Anti Bush is not Anti American and anti zionist is not anti
: semitic.Barry Glick and his son Jeremy can hardly be called
: anti semitic.

: Barry Glick was Jewish.

: HE IS A BIGGER HERO IN OUR EYES.

: And so is his son Jeremy for standing up to the OGRE O'REILLY.

: Unsung heros.

: O'REILLY: Man, I hope your mom isn't watching this.

: GLICK: Well, I hope she is.

: JEREMY, YOUR MOTHER SHOULD BE PROUD!

: "O'REILLY: As respect -- as respect -- in respect for
: your father, who was a Port Authority worker, a fine
: American, who got killed unnecessarily by
: barbarians..."

: O'REILLY: You're entitled to it, all right, but you're -- you
: see, even --I'm sure your beliefs are sincere, but what
: upsets me is I don't think your father would be approving
: of this.

: GLICK: Well, actually, my father thought that Bush's
: presidency was illegitimate.

: O'REILLY: Maybe he did, but...

: GLICK: I also didn't think that Bush...

: GLICK: On September 14, do you want to know what I'm doing?

: O'REILLY: Shut up! Shut up! O'REILLY: Shut up! Shut
: up!O'REILLY: Shut up! Shut up!O'REILLY: Shut up! Shut
: up!O'REILLY: Shut up! Shut up!

: The third Glick: Steven Lawrence Glick, a financial consultant
: who worked for Credit Suisse-First Boston, was attending a

by free re pube lick
This is actually kinda scary...I mean, what the hell is wrong with these people?

by Mr. Toad
My dear Mr. Toad licker,
The only connection between my statements is that the views all have a common cause: that the people who hold them only see what they believe. They have very selective motivations. They throw out most of the facts, substitute selected hearsay, exaggerate what supports their preconceived notions, wrap it in big words and emotional pleas, rehearse it endlessly, then rush out and spout it on the internet and in TV sound bites.
No particular emotion on my part. It's just the way it is.
Cheers!

>>>GLICK: Well, actually, my father thought that Bush's presidency was illegitimate.<<<

While there were innocent people who died in the WTC, this man's father was not among them. He deserved to die.
Well, at least now we know what kind of people we are up against. Thank you for informing us.
by bond
That's right. Some people deserve to die. Just ask the resident goon around here.

But not for thinking that Bush's pResidency is illigetimate.
Sure they do. The sooner, the better.

I am a Bill OReilly fan.

I've read the comments on the Jeremy Glick story and I watched the interview with Bill OReilly and I too, would like to contribute....

Jeremy Glick blamed the US and its policies
Bill OReilly blamed the Taliban and their policies
Both spoke with passion
Both believed they were correct.

Jeremy Glick and the NION group spoke of peace through negotiation
Bill Oreilly spoke of peace through aggression.

Following Jeremy Glick's/NION's belief...
The US and its leaders should be held accountable for all events past and present. Jail time would be implied.
Negotiation is the only way to peace.

Following Bill OReilly's belief....
The Taliban and its leaders should be held accountable. Jail time would be implied
Force is an option to peace.

I question all who commented here.....
Is force\agression ever and option?
How would the Taliban be brought to justice? Through negotiation?
How would you negotiate with a criminal?
Was force necessary in Yugoslavia, and the Invasion of Kuwait?
Why do you condem force on one hand and encourage force on another? (..."kick Bill OReilly's wimpy ass").

If you had a linear line of thought, a logic I could understand, a consistancy in your beliefs then maybe your beliefs/ ideas would make sense to middle America.

I am a Bill OReilly Fan.
