SF Day Labor Program Victory

by SF Day Labor Program
After much delay, the Day Labor Program finally received the green light to move into its Cesar Chavez Street building.
WE WON!
On Thursday, January 16, after an emotional, six-hour hearing, the San Francisco Planning Commission voted unanimously to approve the Day Labor Program's move to 3358 Cesar Chavez Street!! The Commission imposed a list of conditions on the move, including a good faith effort to look for a larger space.

After thirteen years of struggle, the city's day laborers out-organized the opposition of the Mayor and of racist forces in the Mission. This is a huge victory for poor workers and progressives in our city!

We could not have done it without the tremendous support which we received from the community!!

What are the next steps? Once we have finished the needed construction work in a few months, the Day Labor Program will move to its new home!

And we will counter those who continue to attack our funding and those who harrass day laborers on Cesar
Chavez St. The struggle continues!

SI SE PUDO!
