I love checking out the pictures of the beautiful folks who came out to make a stand against war around this country. Thanks for sharing yours.

I attended a protest in St. Augustine, Florida (the oldest city still in operation). It's Republican central LOL. At least 200 people gathered there to speak out. We loudly marched to the Bridge of Lions, chanting and waiving our signs of protest at this major traffic intersection. Most of the cars honked and waived their approval. A Native American played his drum and led most of the chants.

To my surprise the police were very friendly. The town actually arrested a street mime for miming and threw him in jail for 30 days last year. (you do the mime, you do the time!) The laws are so oppressive there that you are not allowed to sing, play music, dance, draw, mime (or other street performances) on St. George street. No kidding it's the law even though people have done all these things for decades. I have boycotted the area since they started arresting artist, etc. But for this peace protest - I broke my own boycott of the town. It was worth it.

Peace!

Thanks for your pictures, I have been exhilierated since the march. I remember looking up and seeing 3 helicopters filming but haven't seen a single overhead shot that would show just how many of us there were. Yesterday I heard that bart ridership increased to ten times more than typical saturday useage, which is around 130,000. THere were so many of us there! The signs were so wonderful and diverse!

But for me the best part was the sound. The rolling cry of 50,000 people ten blocks infront of me picked up by the 50,000 people around me and rocking back to the 50,000 people ten blocks behind me. I have never heard a sound like that in my life.

My husband and I have never been to a protest before. This was a wonderful, affirming experience.
